ooo thanks loopsy - an expert is just what I need!

DS2 is 12 weeks, has good head control but would probably wait until 16 weeks or so to get one - don't really want to bother with the semi recline position.

Reason I want it is because at the moment the only way to get him to sleep in teh day is let him sleep in the sling i have at the moment (a tricotti), problem is he's too big to fall asleep in this in cradle position so i was thinknig I need something that he will still sleep in, hence the question. What do you think? I'm just not sure he'd fall asleep so easily in the upright position.

just read that back and it seems to make very little sense!

wilkinet does sound good though
basically I want a carrier that is really comfortable to wear for long periods and comfortable for him to sleep in. Not too bothered about it lasting for ages as am hoping that by 9 months he will sleep in pram or cot in the day.

would you consider a wrap sling? sybela slings are selling wraps for £30 at the moment. i gave one to my mate to try out. a sling like this will last to toddlerhood.

she found it dead easy to wrap a 6 wk old and within a couple of gos was out on a long walk with baby in wrap and toddler in a pushchair.

this
is the carry i taught her in 2 mins.

thanks loopy - will definitely hire Ergo from big mamas, their hire service is great isn't it.

I just hope he will sleep in one of them because he won't sleep anywhere else in the day!

i have a didy and know what you mean. it makes a good introductory sling if you don't want to splash out on a didy first time.

my dh says the olive one is the only wrap sling he's seen that passes muster.
