Head support for toddler in booster seat?

My dd has recently moved from a stage 2 car seat to a booster seat.
The trouble is that on longer journeys she still falls asleep and as there is no support for her head/ neck she flops right over which looks really incomfortable.
Does anyone know of a head or neck support which you can use free-standing so to speak that might help?

You can get booster seats with a back to them whic is detacable and has aside bit at the top.

I seem to think Toys R Us seel something. I think it's a bit like those blow up pillows you can use on areoplanes except the childrens ones support round the front and sides of your neck rather than the back and side that the adult ones support IYKWIM. Hope this helps

Just had a look at babies R Us site (sorry not sussed out links yet) They do an Eeyore or Tigger neck support at £8.99 each.

Thanks Hercules, but we already have the booster seat and it's just a seat, hence the problem.
The Tigger thing is the right idea but perhaps a bit babyish for a 4 year old?

A regular inflatable neck-cushion - the sort you get for a fiver at any travel-goods shop - should do the job. Alternatively this or this .

Expensive, but brilliant, my 4 year old did a drive across France in her new booster and this:

Sleepyhead

Cushions both sides (so they can turn their head while sleeping) and has a seat belt adjuster.

I must admit we were so concerned about the difference between a stage 2 seat and a booster that we bit the bullet and bought a Britax Kid, which provides good side impact/neck support up to eight. He just looked way too little without it...

enid · 19/07/2004 21:08

Ah, but we have a very independent young lady who refused a car seat, only wanted a booster and insisted that the Maxi Cosi Rodi was for babies. Girls eh.

I agree Enid.
It's a much as we can do to get dd onto her booster seat, she wants to just sit in a normal seat but she's much too small.
The two cushion thing looks good. My concern with the seat belt cushion is that she'll just flop the other way. We also thought about a regular travel neck cushion as we have a couple of these but they're a bit bog for her.
Thanks for all the help.

We had DD (5) on just a booster cushion - just the bottom bit - but have now decided to put her back into the full seat and have bought a Graco junior with cup holders. I agree with you that it is a concern for when they fall asleep, but more importantly perhaps is their posture and side protection in case of an impact (god forbid). Have a look at the ROSPA website and their advice on the subject as they were really useful to me. DD was initially against the seat as all her friends have NO (!) booster seat even.... (more fool them I say) but have cajoled her into one by the tempting cup holders..!

Get some sew-and-stick Velcro. Sew one bit to the seat cover and stick the other on the back of your child's head. Voila! No more slumping!!

SoupDragon · 20/07/2004 22:12

Ahem... seriously though, this is a problem we had. DS1 went into a high backed booster with 5-poit harness which did stop the slumping to a certain extent but now he uses just the seat belt, it's a nightmare. DS2 still regularly falls asleep in the car so he's still in his big carseat but this only lasts for another 6 months and he'll be too big for it I think.

How old is DS1 Soup Dragon?
