Gaaah!

Help me, MN.

I need a high chair for master Kif.

Dd1 had an old Graco model (seems discontinued).

I liked very much that this chair had a very deep, wide, removable washable tray. I feel this is a 'must' - I get bored of spoon feeding and 'managing' her feeding very quickly. Dd1 - a la BLW - just got served this and that on her tray which she'd thin down with her drink and then slosh around the tray. I didn't need to stress about things making a big mess on the floor or spoiling everyone else's meal.

I didn't like how it was a hygiene hazard from first use, and seemed to require you to clean it with a toothbrush to get into the crevises and the daft 'armchair' stylee upholstered vinyl cushion. I look longingly at wooden styles like trip trap - thst can be used w/o a cushion, or with a changeable simple cushion - for what looks like 'wipe and go' cleaning.

I found the 'features' plain daft. Why oh why would I need my child to sleep in the reclined highchair? The blighter eats three meals a day every day - why do I need to fold the chair into a postage stamp? Height adjustment? It was really very big and quite ugly.

I feel like I've looked at every chair out there - and I'm depressed that my perfect chair (I'm imagining a trip trap but with a big deep plastic tray) doesn't exist . I really want to get this right, because I thunk he'll spend a lot of time in it watching me and Dd cook, do craft etc. Current best option is to fetch graco from my mum - but it's fourth hand already.... so I'd really rather save myself the drive and get a spanking new one. Would like it to be good for his back ove long use.

HEEELLLPPPP MEEE PLEAASSSEEE!!!!

Really? Everyone loves the antilopp?

Me and Dh must have a mighty chip on our shoulder then - we used to avoid putting Dd into the antilop in restaurants because it looked flimsy. She'd do this back arching thing and I'd just lose my nerve and take her out.

Not at all.
Best of all,easy to clean.
I used to put mine by the back door and throw a bucket of water over it.
I feel sick when I see friends' hugely complicated chairs full of nooks and crannies and encrusted with food.
Yuck.

mozze was the worst £350 I have ever spent. Don't be tempted by those fancy high chairs!!!! Get yourself to Ikea and spend the rest of the cash on yourself!!!!!!

Another vote for the Antilop, first used one in a cafe then realised it was Ikea and got one. Easy to clean, very sturdy. We took ours away with us last weekend and it's really easy to take apart and light to transport. We even used the seat on its own on the floor to keep DD upright and contained during a ferry ride (possibly not officially recommended but it worked)!

Thanks to all of you for pushing me into the Antilopp.

Took me ages to act on your recomendation - was screwing up my courage before braving IKEA. (which is actually unfair - was almost sane experience for a change - if you doscount queueing 35 minutes for meaballs in the cafe).

To get to the point - I'm lurrrving the highchair. I put it in the shower every night - I really do - and it stays so clean! And it somehow seems to sit almost invisibly behind my table - the low white back blending into the wall. And a nice solid crotch bar.

I think my previosu prejudices were based on testing it with my giant sized Dd when she was 2. My eeny-weeny ds at 6 months looks very safe and snug.

Thank youuu!
