Im looking to buy one for DD and DS; has anyone had one and can they tell me if they are worthy of the money? xx

My dd & ds have them. DD doesn't like hers because she wakes herself up everytime she moves because she says she can hear herself on the plastic blow up bit (good technical terms there!).

Ds likes his, but I would only use it for him in the winter months. He sweats in hot weather at the best of times and again the plastic does nothing for him. We used it on holiday in London last year in the height of the heatwave and he was dripping with sweat. We ended up building him a bed on the floor with blankets etc.

Wolfgirl · 10/04/2007 09:18

Thanks for that; I have for DS who is 3 but height of 5 year old!! a blow up child bed, you can get them in John Lewis - I got mine off ebay. It does not have the sleeping bag attached, you apply your own covering. so far that has worked, but the head pillow is huge and bulky and when DS lies down it looks as though he is being propped up. Yes, my DS sweats too, we have not had heating in his room all through the winter - just the heat from the house rising and it heats his room enough. I think it might be diff. for DD (15 months) she seems to like to snuggle up in warm grobag and blanket LOL. boys Vs girls again, even at this age. funny.

xx

I have Ready Beds that I keep at my sisters house for when the boys stay there & they are great for that purpose.
They don't seem the most comfortable of beds, but DS's seem to sleep ok in them. Saying that, DS1 seems to sleep just as well in a sleeping bag on the floor!

Wolfgirl · 10/04/2007 09:32

...are they just a gimmick then? We have floor mats - camping ones, that expand with a cushion of air, I might just use those then. Mmmm... shame, they looked quite fun, but am not spending if I dont get good feedback, like Heck Wolfgirl they are the best things since sliced bread! LOL xxx

Well.........dd who's 8 really really really wanted the Groovy Chick one. So I hunted high and low looking for it for her birthday - she has slept on it twice, so no at £29.99 it really wasn't worth the money!

Pinkchampagne · 10/04/2007 09:41

We got ours cheap on Vertbaudet (think it was £12 rather than £40 with our order), don't think I would spend £30+ on one.

dionnelorraine · 10/04/2007 09:44

My dd has got a fifi ready bed. As soon as she saw it she dived into it! Slept like a log in it when she stayed with her uncle and Auntie! Never looked back!

Nemo2007 · 10/04/2007 09:44

we have a first ready bed for ds that we use for camping he loves it. Also ordered one of those cheap vertbaudet ones when they were going for a fiver including postage[there was a voucher code on here somewhere] so have that for DS this year and DD1 will use the first ready bed.

dionnelorraine · 10/04/2007 09:45

My dd was £29.99 from argos. Worth the money imo

Fimbo · 10/04/2007 09:49

LOL-a bit of difference of opinion here! .

Perhaps Wolfgirl, you need to try and get them cheap, maybe when Verbaudt are doing offers again and let your dc try them out for themselves!

VickyA · 10/04/2007 10:27

We got a Thomas Ready Bed from an online shop. It was great for holidays, but developed a slow puncture, even though we always put it on a blanket on the floor. The online shop gave us a full refund even though it was almost a year ago and I couldn't find the receipt - presumably they had their records and were keen for good customer service - unusual!
We ended up buying a junior aerobed, which was even more expensive , but much less than paying for a rollaway bed in a hotel.
Hope this helps

Wolfgirl · 10/04/2007 10:39

Yes, the airbed we bought for DS a year or so ago acquired a hole/slow puncture, but we fixed it iwth a patch; there is a Ready bed for sale on the For Sale forum; have put in a cheeky bid, but just wanted to get an idea of how good they are. The camp seems divided. But for £15 it might be a worthy emergency overnight keepsake, and im sure they will always sell onwards - especially as these sort of items are used only on rare occassions.

I'm a fan. We use them for our two DSs, aged three and four and they both love them. The only drawback is that they're a bit noisy. It doesn't seem to bother them but if we share a room with them, we can hear every time they turn over.

Vertbaudet are doing jungle themed ones for £8.99 when you buy another item. The catalogue code is 2546860, but you cannot buy them online, the system won't let you. I had to phone up to get mine. They have them in stock and mine should be with me any day!!

Wolfgirl · 11/04/2007 08:54

awwwrrr...shame, I dont have membership with Vertbaudet! Ive been given Vertbaudet clothes as gifts, but not bought any myself. I love their stuff too. Thats a good deal

Easy enough to set up an account with Vertbaudet - you can do that online & get £10 off your first order!
I have loads of good money off vouchers for Vertbaudet too!

Pinkchampagne · 11/04/2007 16:02

The jungle one is the one I have for DS1 & at the time it was £12 when you placed another order.

Wolfgirl · 12/04/2007 08:43

Morning champers! I like that idea, might do it over the weekend! do they have sales on-line? can you get some real bargains? thanks for letting me know xx

OP posts:
Pinkchampagne · 12/04/2007 13:49

Yes they do have sales online, but I also have loads of codes for £8 & £10 off, which you can use for items of any price!
I ordered a pillow case for DS, which should have been £7.99, used a £8 off code & got it for £0.00!!!

Wolfgirl · 17/04/2007 15:18

...I havent done it yet PC LOL, naughtly little wench that I am! Oh and btw, still testing out that Babydan pushchair I got a while back. only been used to pick up from nursery and odd trips to the shops. the swivel wheel system is crap in shops as doesnt glide over most shop flooring - whether its carpet or parke stuff. but handles are adjustable, its large and DD seems to like it. the back rest is very low, so no head rest when DD grows a bit. Dont think I would recommend so far, but want to test it out on real rough ground first.

We used the very cheap Vertbaudet one over Easter and it was great for dd2 but would have been too small for dd1, (she has a junior one that is bigger)but it has a lovely fleecy pillow and washed well when we came back.
