Maternity clothes shopping in Central London - advice ?

Hi there, I don't know Central London all that well (or UK shops for that matter) but I am heading over for a weekend soon and would like to pick up some affordable maternity items from high street shops. I will prob just be in Oxford street/Regent St (Hamleys - for dd!) area for part of a day, so to save time can anyone recommend which stores would be most useful to visit ?

H&M and Top Shop are both in the area. Formes is pricier, in Covent Garden.

Hennes do affordable maternity stuff and a bit more interesting than some. The store at the Marble Arch end of Oxford Street carries maternity so in the broad area you'll be.
Mothercare is up that end too.
If the sales are still on you might pick up something good quality and affordable in Formes (Brook Street I think, off New Bond Street).
I know stores like Next do maternity but I'm not sure the Oxford Street branches carry it.

there's a formes near oxford street (?brook street?) and the sale is pretty good there. i had a pair of trousers that cost £60 but they saw me (and a number of friends) through both pregnancies and were the smartest/comfiest thing i had. dorothy perkins on oxford st has the odd ok-thing.

Saw a dame in very nice wrapover Hennes preggie dress over Topshop preggie jeans the other day (yes, I asked. I know no social shame). Chic and cheap and well enviable

i saw some lovely stuff in a shop called Maternus, just off Upper Street in Islington and they have another store in Dulwich (www.maternus.com).

Or you could buy online from Isabella Oliver! That stuff looks lovely

the toast online website has some stuff that looks preggie-friendly, although not strictly maternity - a linen skirt you wear with a tunic sort of thing. nicer than it sounds!

Top Shop maternity, is according to friends in the know, very cool and very inexpensive.

Observer didn't like it. Looked a bit puff-bally when I looked at it in Top Shop recently.

[memo to self - why looking at preggiewear? WHY?]

you can also try Dorothy Perkins over Bond street station.

I found Top Shop's range v. limited.

You'll find Formes at the bottom of South Molton street and they have a sale now on!!

H&M are brilliant, I highly recommend them. I spent 100 pounds and got at least 5 outfits. The one you want though is a bit far from the busiest part of Oxford Street, I think Bond Street was the closest station? Have fun shopping!
