I am looking a for hairbrush for DDs. At the moment we use the soft baby ones which are just TOO soft. (We have thrre on the go)

I have tried a cheap plastic on but this is too harsh. All the paddle brushes I see in Boots are again too much.

My mum has a lovely brush (which she got when I was about 6!) with gentle non-plastic bristles. Where would I find one like this today.

I do not want a Tresemme, Nicky Clarke, Style-U-Like, Hot-curls, Wonderbrush (I am making the last ones up!!).

DD1 has very long hair and it only looks shiny when she has been to the hairdressers.

I hate hairbrushes, they make my hair greasy and static-y. I use wide-toothed detangling comb and it is brilliant.

Mason Pearson are meant to be the best brushes in the world though, and they do pure bristle ones

(warning, Not Cheap)

Thanks MrsB! I might go the comb route. Although remembering my long hair, I think DD1 might be the same as me and always have a slightly dishevelled look anyway.

I now remember my sisters having lovely M-P brushes and they lasted forever. (As the youngest I had to make do with a lesser one but that's another story........)

Mason Pearson are worth the extra money - they last for decades. Much less painful than combs when dealing with tangles, too.

I use a Mason-Pearson bog standard brush on DD1's hair. Her hair is quite fine, but it's long and this brush is perfect for her hair.

It's not very large, the handbag size.

I bought it on my first visit to the UK, back when I had long, thick hair.

But now it's her brush.

I paid about £15 for it back then.

we have a lovely one from an independent kids shop - was quite pricy at the time but its about 3 years old now and still like new. there's no name on it ( just checked!)
