What is the appeal?

Do the baby/toddler's legs have to be in a sitting position in the seat even when t is fully 'reclined'?

Is it easy to fold?

Does it manage kerbs well? Cobble stones?

fab legs comfy fold well errr no---kerbs and cobbles yes

FrannyandZooey · 02/04/2007 21:54

nice to see you GABO

misdee · 02/04/2007 21:54

it is easy to fold once you get the hang of it.

GreenandBlackOtter · 02/04/2007 21:55

aww franny nice to feel wanted!!

fizzipop · 02/04/2007 21:56

we love our gecko. Easy to fold once you get 'the knack', we practiced in the lounge a few times before we took dd1 out in it for the first time!!

I have pushed several friends buggies etc and the bugaboo is soooooo much lighter and easy to manouvre. It does depend on your lifestyle, and how big your car boot is!! It wouldn't be any good on public transport. I walk miles with dd1, so I love it.

vitomum · 02/04/2007 21:56

the main thing i like is it is very light and easy to push and swivels on a sixpence

MrsBadger · 02/04/2007 21:57

the seat only tips back, doesn't recline, so angle of legs stays the same. Get the carrycot if you want tinies to lie flat

glorious to push

have to take the seat off to fold - ok to put in boot, royal PITA getting on bus etc.

greenday · 02/04/2007 21:57

Goes over bumps with great ease.
Agree that its easy to fold once you get the hang of it. Still a hassle though, after all these years!
Your baby's legs will stick up still as it doesn't recline flat. It's always a seating position, ifywim.

misdee · 02/04/2007 21:57

i liek the fact itrs easy to steer rearfacing, not many are good with heavier toddlers rearfacing.

misdee · 02/04/2007 21:58

MrsB, carrycot is included in the price

bristols · 02/04/2007 21:58

Is an absolute dream to push around. I love it. Legs do stay in 'sitting position' when reclined but seems to be v comfy. Easy to fold with a bit of practice but I find it PITA that it has to be taken into two parts to collapse. Also remains pretty big when folded so you need a biggish boot. That said, I love mine very much! HTH

MrsBadger · 02/04/2007 22:01

oh cool misdee
didn't used to be

fizzipop · 02/04/2007 22:15

and another thing.....I think it's a BIG bonus that they can face you. My mate was gutted when she had to put her ds in his forward facing 'jane' buggy. I love being able to see and chat to dd, and I still feel that she can see plenty around her.

I don't think I have ever met someone with a bugaboo who doesn't love it....

Cadmum · 02/04/2007 23:01

Thanks for the answers.

I have never really understood the appeal but I am not happy with our new Techno XT and a friend is selling her bugaboo...

Can't actually picture our dd2 with her knees in the air to sleep but it would be nice to be able to see her rear facing.

Yip!

accessorizewithbabysick · 02/04/2007 23:07

I have a bugaboo and I really dislike it (just to prove the point)...Swopped for a mountain buggy last year. Only thing I regret is that when ds2 grows out of the carrycot I won't be able to look at him. I found the folding faffy after 2 years, never got used to it. Didn't find it easy to push at all on rough pavements with my toddler, but the seat does look v.comfy reclined for them (as long they don't get too long, then their heads will reach the canopy).

Cadmum · 03/04/2007 11:21

AWBS (LOVE your name!): Are you the first to admit that you do not like your bugaboo? I thought that it was illegal or immoral to make such a confession. Do you like the mountain buggy?

I suppose that I should ask to borrow the bugaboo before I can make a decision either way.

Mostly, I am feeling blue that my new XT is not as good as the original one we had for DS2.

hunkermunker: Sorry for the thread title. Didn't mean to make you snort but I had to laugh that you appear to be the only other MNer who does not understand the expense or the love of the Bugaboo. With what do you stroll about with your wee lads (if I may be so nosey)?

she makes them walk and crawkl along the floor only j/king HM!

Whoooosh · 03/04/2007 12:54

Saw the most hideous one at the weekend-it was white with some kind of cartoon type things on them.Googled it and found it was a designer one and cost over £1000.

Cannot tell you how chavtastic it was.

sohappyicouldcry · 03/04/2007 13:01

absolutely adore my chameleon.... dd looks so comfy in it. great that can change positions so easily, love it on rough ground and bumpy paths, so easy to manoevre (?sp) great when shopping etc. only a couple of negatives, have to take into 2 pieces to c9ollapse, fiddly to fold (but soon get swing of it).....still love it !!!!!

Whoooosh · 03/04/2007 13:06

this was it!

accessorizewithbabysick · 03/04/2007 13:33

If you search products you'll find several threads of bugaboo vs mountain buggy, it's been going on for years! I found the bug ok with a smaller baby, but once my ds hit 30 pounds (2.5years), it was a nightmare pushing it anywhere with anything in the shopping basket. It is a faff putting it together, but the advantage is that each bit is quite light so you don't do your back in lifting it (as with MB which is the same weight). I personally found the handle really uncomfortable as it's not ergonomic at all. But it's quite a compact pushchair for going in shops & so forth, really depends what you want. My no.1 priority was comfortable & easy to push as I've usually got lots of shopping & my preschooler on his bike to deal with. Cannot handle that with the bug, can with the mb.

MarsLady · 03/04/2007 13:35

Cadmum... Hinker's not the only one that can't abide the mugaboo!

Fugly in the extreme! lol
