Just looks at a pergout 3008 which has an electronic handbreak.

Does anybody have one? What's a electronic handbreak like?

I have had a Vauxhall Meriva for a couple of years, which has an electric "parking button" if that's what you mean. I was totally flummoxed by it at first and kept feeling around for the handbrake, but within a couple of days I was totally used to it, and couldn't imagine a big bulky handbrake now!

I have a friend who would never buy a car with one again, it locked up completely and cost a fortune to fix and replace.

I've had one for nearly two years now. Its action is the same as a manual handbrake - down for odd and up for on.
I've never had any problems with it, and like the fact that the centre console is flat.

I've got one and it's great. So easy to use and makes those hill starts so much easier as you just accelerate and off you go...
Couldn't go back to old type handle one now..

Have one on a VW Touran (current model). I didn't like the concept but am now a convert. It makes life very easy as if you have it set to auto hold it engages and releases automatically (when you come to a stop with the footbrake or accelerate away from a stationary position). You do not need to press a button.

I borrowed a car with an old fashioned handbrake from the garage when our car was in for servicing and found it hard to remember to put the handbrake on when parking!
