Hi

I have just moved from the US and am settling into country life in the sticks. I am linked to the internet etc., and pop down to London once a month or so but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on websites or catalogues that I could look up to purchase stuff for myself and my kids (Milly aged 4 and Matt aged 9). I need EVERYTHING from clothing, home products, toys, furniture, holiday ideas - you name it.

Thank you very much!

An appreciative yank

If you're after stuff for party bags, Hawkins Bazaar has a lot of things, some in multi-packs. Also good are multi-packs of books from the Book People .

PrincessPeaHead · 28/03/2007 15:24

Glad you found it helpful! Isn't netaporter fantastic? They stock Tibi too which I've only ever found in Barneys before

If you want party stuff I always order from www.partybox.com - fast and reliable delivery and a great range of plates, party bags, pinatas etc.

PrincessPeaHead · 28/03/2007 15:26

toys - obviously www.toysrus.co.uk has everything, www.argos.com has all the usual big brands, www.elc.co.uk is good up to a certain age (I'd say up to 5 probably), www.mailboxexpress.co.uk is also very good and fast.

PrincessPeaHead · 28/03/2007 15:28

I also INSIST you look at the white company site. If you are a netaporter kind of gal you'll really like it!

JackieNo · 28/03/2007 15:28

Oh yes, City of Marvels has good party stuff too, and I believe is run by an MNer (though I don't know which one).

PrincessPeaHead · 28/03/2007 15:29

www.thesleepovercompany.co.uk has nice things for little girls - like girly little suitcases on wheels and fairy sleeping bags etc etc if she likes that sort of thing

PrincessPeaHead · 28/03/2007 15:32

ok holidays also www.meonvillas.co.uk and www.powderbyrne.com

I'll shut up now! I could actually go on for hours but I think you have enough to be going on with

YesNoMaybeSo · 28/03/2007 15:40

Not at all PPH, I need as much as you can throw at me I'll check those other sites tonight (kiddy call!).

Again thanks SO much - please keep them coming.

PPH you really are my sort of shopper.

hannahsaunt · 28/03/2007 16:07

PPH - had a very brief look at the car dealer website which seems fab. Do you know offhand if you can trade in your current car through the site with the dealer from whom you will be purchasing? Need to replace ours in a few months time.

TIA

PrincessPeaHead · 28/03/2007 17:10

what they do is basically put you in touch with a main dealer who you then contract with. but you essentially get fleet prices. so it is entirely up to that dealer whether they will take your car in as a trade in - some will, some won't - depends on your car, their stock, etc etc etc.

I've bought three cars off drivethedeal in the last 4 years but I haven't traded anything in.

paula - delighted to hear it!

If you like Net a porter, you might also like Browns .

Skyler · 28/03/2007 19:23

I like www.lakelandlimited.co.uk for kitchen stuff. It is great.
For supermarket shopping I use www.mysupermarket.co.uk. It is very easy to use and compares all the supermarket prices for you.
Have fun
