Im thinking of getting something for ds to play with in the garden.
We had a sweing for yrs for dd ,but not sure ds is that interested in swings.CLimbing frame like this looks about the right size ,but it looks really dull to me.Don't really have room for this attachment to make it more fun.
SO would the first link be worth it and do your kids play on it?

my friend has this climbing frame, used a lot the first summer now used as a trainer for her climbing plants !

Used to have garden toys, but dd usually wants to go in nextdoors garden and vice versa! Neither them or dd play on the damn things though!

I have that very one, ggirl, with the addition of the canvas floor thingie, which doesn't take up any room

Our boys used it steadily from about the age of 4 to 10. They got lots of use out of it, playing in and udner the floor. Our DD is 9 now, and prefers to climb trees. But it was hugely popular for parties and things, and when kids are over to play.

Friends of ours have the frame you linked to with the platform and a slide attached -their 11 yo DD still uses it sometimes. It was used all the time when she was younger. The slide gives it a bit more scope for use.

We have a double swing -DD uses it a lot, DS has grown out of his baby/toddler swing seat so I was wondering about hanging something different to a normal seat on the one side (tyre?). I can't see him swinging backwards and forwards for hours on end like DD does -hes more of a climber and adventurer

NoNoNoBodyInTheTomb · 26/03/2007 13:48

Oh hang on - ours had a slide attachment to it

brimfull · 26/03/2007 13:49

can you have a slide attached to the first one without all the other stuff?

we are planning to buy

this one

once we have got our garden levelled and turfed

NoNoNoBodyInTheTomb · 26/03/2007 13:51

Yep. Ours had a slide, and we also had the canvas floor thing, but I don't think that you needed that. It just made it easier for them to queue up to slide and so on.

We didn't have those monkey bars

constantly.
we have a tp swing frame (triple one) with a sort of fort tower attached which you climb up to with a ladder and slide down. the swing frame has a trapeze, a swing and a "pirate boat". it is a child magnet - I neveer ceaase to be amazed how they use it, they play billions of games on it with all sorts of props! and even the 1 year old goes in the pirate boat and down the bottom bit of the slide.

The first one looks OK if you put the play den on it, and it would be great if you could add a slide...

that is lovely greenshoots

we have the same one as greenshoots is planning to buy, and it is a child magnet!

Not only do the children (my ds 4 1/2 and neighbour's dd nearly 5) use it as intended, in the summer, they put blankets over the platform bit and make it into a den. It is regularly turned into a castle, and a pirate ship!

We've had it for 2 years, and it has been worth every penny! I would say, if you get one (or something similar, to get the plastic mats you can put down to put at the bottom of the slide and under the swing ... they have saved our grass looking ropey - and after a few weeks, you can't tell they are there.
