Does anyone have a WHEELYBUG?

DD will be one in a couple of weeks and whilst looking for ideas for a present for her we came across Wheelybugs in John Lewis. First thoughts were we have to get one but now I think about it maybe she is a bit too little. She's not walking yet but is cruising so is she likely to be able to balance on it or will she just fall off backwards onto her head?!

Are they as fun as they look??

we got ds one for his first birthday - he was too small for it and didn't use properly till 18 months or so. However, he still squeezes on it now! (he is 6).
I'm glad we got it as I wanted him to have a special first birthday present which he could keep for years.

It is great fun, btw! We have the bee.

We have one and it is brill. DD1 loves it and now dd2. At first dd2 just held on to the hndle and used it to help her walk which ws funny because being on carsters she went all over the place. We have a big one and at 1 she wouldn't have been able to sit on it buit she did from about 2.

We have a cow. I got it cheap from Ebay.

That's what I was hoping - that they are the kind of thing that will last forever! I also have 5yo dd1 and almost 3yo ds so no doubt they'd get more from it first off!

i got one for ds first birthday, he learned to walk with it! he's 2 next month and still whizzes around on it best pres ever and looks brand new. wouldn't use it outside though.

They're great. DD1 still uses her bee one and she's 3.

Never had an accident on it, and it still looks pretty new 2 years later.

we broke one of the wheels (after 5 years constant use) and the manufacturers sent us another one free of charge.

uptomyeyes · 26/03/2007 12:55

We've had the cow for about 4 years - it looks as good as new despite being charged around on and crashed into the furniture, doorposts etc. I've had 9 year olds playing on ours. DS3 (11months) cruises around holding the handle - fine on carpets, though it runs away with him on wooden floors.

If memory serves you used to be able to get 2 sizes a small one for 1-3yrs and a big one for 3-5's. I was thinking of trying to find a small cow for DS3. The we would have a cow and the calf.
There is a phone number on the bottom of ours 020 7226 1799 you could phone and ask.

my 4 year old neice has one. at christmas all the children (including my 13 year old) were whizzing about on it. so they seem very sturdy

zephyrcat · 26/03/2007 12:55

Looks like it's top of the present list for dd2 then! Thanks

Is there a huge difference in size between the big and small ones?

should have added that I (35) sometimes have a quick spin on ours, and it seems to cope with that ok!

I think there is quite a difference in size, but I think you would probably get better value for money from the big one.

I consider our wheely moo - practically a furniture piece. All the other toys are tidied away but he gets parked under the coffee table.

PopTart · 26/03/2007 16:38

If you get the large one for a 1 year old would it not be too big?
