Sophable - we are going to Lyme Regis next week too!

We went there about 2 years ago (I think) and tbh I don't remember much in the way of 'lovely' food shops in Lyme Regis itself (there's a Co-op in the High Street though )

There is a bakery right the near the Town Mill which was good iirc and also a shop in the High Street which sold pies, quiches, pastries etc. But you need to get buy them almost as soon as they are made.

Apart from that I think Axminster and Bridport are the nearest 'foodie' places.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if anyone comes up with some good ideas

Mercy I hope we get good weather.

Yes bridport, and possibly Beaminster better bets maybe.

Any MNers live down there and know?

Beaminster is great - good hair salon and home shop too! There is a deli there (although I have never been).

OK - this is where I go

Trawlermans in West Bay is good for fish, there is also a great fish shop in Lyme itself, it is tiny, down by the tourist info place, cannot remember what it is called but the bloke who runs it is luverly.

crab house cafe cannot recommend this place hightly enough although it is in Weymouth so a bit of a drive (it is in the MOST unlikely place but honestly it is great)

Bridport has a farmers market most Saturdays

would LOVE to but we aer in France taht week!

Lots to do for kids in Abbotsbury (kids farm, soft play, lovely botanical gardens, swannery)

the sweet little fossil museum in Lyme which dd1 and 2 inexplicably love despite being tiny and a bit crap really especially if you are from London and used to all that up there!

Weymouth beach superb for a proper old bucket and spade, donkey, helter skelter and candy floss day

we are going to the Automata exhibition here when we get back

will post more as I think of them

hahaha, classic, i was thinking that was a really weird name for dorset, until i realised that's where you're going...tarn...very nice indeed....

having just spent the day at a farm and playbarn type thing, and having really had a good time with ds, i wondered if there was anything like that down those parts...
