Do you hand shoes down to younger siblings?

Or is it best just to buy new ones? I have a box full of ds's shoes that I'm hanging on to in case there's ever a ds2. But TBH most of those shoes are in pretty worn condition. Am wondering if I ought to bin them. What do y'all do?

would never pass on proper shoes

My old H.V said it was fine to pass on any shoes so long as they weren't moulded to the other childs foot shape. She said she did it all the time.

I am absolutly hopeless at buying my kids shoes when there feet aren't measured. Even though i know there shoe size i still worry that they won't fit and usually end up not buying them.

As a result of this thread I threw out a heap of ds's old shoes--nearly 5 yrs worth! What a relief. Kept anything little worn, esp. wellies.

My mum had told me to get rid of them ages ago, but she has this thing against used clothes (which I obviously don't) so I thought the "don't save shoes!" advice was down to snobbery not common sense. Very helpful, everyone, thanks.

I would like to say thank you to my kind mum who pass's on loads of clothes and shoes, some of which are brand new and some have been worn. They are brilliant to use as playing out shoes and as they have not been worn much no-body knows unless you tell them.

Dilligaf you should get out more.

I have an 18 month difference in my two dd's and have a thing about passing down shoes. I dont mind the little one wearing her big sisters clothes but just dont like the idea of shoes. but call me hypocrytical if you want, but as long as they are in good condition it seems that you can sell them on ebay, I've done it so far with 2 pairs of clarks shoes. However, I will probably keep wellies and pass those down.
