2 children in car seats, a large dog and plenty space for luggage.

I was thinking something along the lines of a Hyundai Tucsan, but not actually seen inside one to assess the boot space.

We regularly travel to see family, every 4-6 weeks, so space for bags and children paraphernalia is a must. DH has long legs so has to have his seat pushed quite far back so there needs to still be plenty space in the back seats for the bulky car seats.

We have roof box on our current car so assume we could use that too with different bars?

Would be looking for sat nav, Bluetooth, air con etc

Thanks!

Skoda Superb?
I've not driven one but was in a minicab Superb recently on our way to the airport. It was enormous both for the luggage and passenger leg room front and back. It seemed to have all the extras but I've got no idea what it is like to drive or park.

Hi, I have a Tucson. And would heartily recommend it - with a couple of caveats. Don't buy the 1.7, buy the 2.0 (I'm assuming you'll get a diesel). You will not get close to the economy figures claimed, so it's not worth the compromise on power, when the pay-off of economy simply doesn't exist. The SE Nav (which is the trim level you'd need) is really good value apart from that. And a five-year warranty=peace of mind.Loads of space in the back, and a decent size boot....

Thank you - it's good to hear from someone that has one.

The other option was a 7 seater with the two seats in back down unless needed...

What's your budget and are you buying new or used?

Lots of good cars but need to narrow it down somewhat Grin

We have a Skoda Superb estate and it is amazing. We have three DDs (one teenage and the other two nearly teenage) and they all fit very comfortably in the back. The boot is truly cavernous - if our dog (a whippet) would settle in the car, there would be plenty of room for him and a weekend's worth of luggage. When we go away for two weeks in the summer we'll probably get a roof box because we're incapable of travelling light. Highly recommend it - and it's very good value as well.

tkband3 What's it like to park? It was lovely to be driven in but I'm a bit chicken about trying to park anything that big.

tkband3 · 27/06/2017 18:25

We splashed out on the rear parking camera and the parking sensors front and back, so it's not too bad!!

tkband3 · 27/06/2017 18:39

Should also add, it's absolutely fab to drive - a real pleasure!

We have a qaishqui and it's great for the kids and a dog, and so comfy and a large boot space.

Thank you - we would probably lease a car and could afford maybe £300 a month.

Will look up these cars that have been suggested - thanks!

Ok, so lots of options if you want to lease at that price.

I'd look at the new Golf SV. It used to be the Golf Plus - but now renamed. It's "bigger" in every way than a standard golf and has a good standard spec.

Also, look at the BMW 2 series grand tourer. I thought it might be out of budget but they have lease offers on within your price range.

Skoda Superb is.....superb. So much leg room in the back. It's an Audi A6 underneath apparently.
Only complaint so far is I accidentally set a warning which pinged every time I went over 20mph. Took a while to find out why it was happening....
