new washer and tumble dryer- BUT WHICH ONE???????????

i have just killed my tumble dryer and have decided to treat myself to a new washer and tumble dryer (matching!) I think i have narrowed it down to hotpoint because i like the set and forget on the tumble dryer.

But i'm still a bit unsure- was going to go for the ultima washing machine as i want one with a time left to run display thing

Does anyone have the hotpoint ones and are they worth the money?

I am covetting the Hotpoint Aqualtis at the moment-becasue it has a drum big enough to do a duvet and also has top ratings for energy etc...

see i was tempted but i came crashing back down to earth when i found out that it doesn't have a LCD info panel to tell me how long's left!

See its just so difficult!

If I was getting a new washing machine I would go for a miele.
I have an aeg ,which is great, but miele comes with a really long warranty and loads of people rave about them.
Dryer- appparently white knight is a good make according to the local repairman

i really want a matching set as they are on display in the kitchen! i also want the set and forget on the dryer because i'm forever puttting it on for too long, so that would save energy!

what is set and forget please?

I may have to change dryer and this sounds intersting!

Whoooosh · 20/03/2007 13:06

Oh I thought the top end Aqualtis did have that feature?

nearlythere · 20/03/2007 14:07

set and forget means that you just put the clothes in and press the dry button and it turns itself off when the clothes are dry! saving energy if you're like me and turn iot on for the full time to make sure the clothes are dry!

just peeked at the aqualtis- it has a timing indicator like the hoover ones but not a specific time left to finish display

anyway, i just went to my local electronics place (and very friendly they are!!) after being all set to order the matching hotpoint ones at nearly £800, they persuaded me to get a cheaper tumble dryer (beko, set and forget £149- can't go far wrong!) and wait until my kitchen is re-furbed then get the matching set as i should be finished with nappy washing by then!

even better- paid £149 for it and when they delivered and unwrapped the dryer it had a dent on the top panel, umm'ed and ahh'ed for a while and they gave me £49 back on it so a decent dryer for £100 and the likelihood that they will be nice and friendly when i buy the hotpoint ones!

didn't want to tell him that it was only a stop gap dryer until the kitchen gets finished- doubt he would have been so generous!

i'm feeling very proud of myself!

so beko are decent are they?

i'm very happy with it! it sings a little tune when its finished (unless you tell it not to!) god, i can't believe how excited i am about a tumble dryer!
