Advice needed on side by side twin 3-wheelers

I have a friend expecting her third child who is looking at twin buggy options as there'll only be 20 months between her second and third children. She wants a side by side 3 wheeler and so far has only seen the Mountain Buggy one, which is very expensive. I've seen oeople out and about with an XTS version, which looks good, and others have told me they didn't get on well with the Mothercare version, but there must be others out there. Can anyone offer advice on what there is on the market and relative pros and cons?

My friend had the mothercare one I think. It was lovely to push (our children are same ages so sometimes we would put babies in double pushchair and let toddlers walk) but the biggest problem she had was that it was really wide and wouldn't go through shop doors. I have a fairly ordinary Graco side-by-side which doesn't go through my front door but generally is OK on shops although getting down the aisles of some is a bit of a P.I.T.A if you know what I mean!

I have the mothercare one. I think its called Urban Detour. It is excellent, very light to push. I can manage to push my two year old and five year old in it up hills easily. I have had mine for two years with no problems. The only downsides, it is large to fit in car boot and bulky in shops.

I have the XTS Twin Jogger and had a horrendous time with it. I have a 23 month old and a 3 month old.

Firstly, it had the fixed front wheel, which would have been fine with two children roughly the same weight, but with mine it kept going to one side - the side with the heavier child.

Secondly, it just really got on my nerves not being able to get into shops, though this is a disadvantage of lots of side by side buggies I think.

However, both my 2 seemed to be comfortable in it.

I gave up with it and have just bought the Kiwi Explorer and its great, more expensive but at least I can get into shops again.

Pushing my luck here but I am now trying to get rid of a XTS Twin Jogger in black, very good condition, in Hertfordshire, anyone interested?????

I have a friend who is just about to have 2nd baby and she lives near Watford I will ask her and let you know thanks

Are you near Watford?

Joanne69 · 10/07/2004 23:03

I am about 1/2 hour from Watford in Stevenage. She is more than welcome to come and have a look if she wants. But am on holiday for a week from tomorrow (Tuesday)

KangaMummy · 10/07/2004 23:06

Are you selling it or just wanting to get rid of it?

So it doesn't take up much needed room at home.

If you are wanting to sell it how much for?

I will let S know and see what she says, their DD is nearly 2 yrs and new baby due in next few weeks.

KangaMummy · 10/07/2004 23:15

She is not home at the moment

I don't think Stevenage will be a problem.

Joanne69 · 10/07/2004 23:25

As its almost new I would want something for it, say £150, paid £200 for it new

KangaMummy · 11/07/2004 00:03

Ok I will ring her tomorrow and ask her, then let you know.

Thanks,

I know you are away but I will leave a message on this thread for when you get back.

Enjoy your holiday
