I am rather complex and would really appreciate some help buggy buying!

Right. DP drives, I do not. I plan to do a lot of walking post baby number 2, but with a 2 yr old DS and an 90 minute walk to town it will most probably involve buses, of which probably not even half are 'buggy friendly'. DS will be turning 3 a few months after the next baby is due, so I was rather hoping for one that I can fit a buggy board on to - don't want a buggy. Most days ATM he will walk a fair distance.

The buggies I like are mainly the rear facing ones, ones we really can't afford. DP will sell his playstation though i reckon and we don't have too many other things to buy(!).

I've seen the Hauck infinity, and this one is currently scoring the highest, as we could get the whole package, I'd double up the carrycot as a moses basket. This way sounds like life would be much easier, DS would always wake when lifted in/out. Only as I have a DS I won't always be able to wait for baby to finish napping.

The major negatives with this one seem to be only front facing folding, which TBH I could arrange quite easily before getting on the bus. And also the fact that a buggy board wouldn't fit (is there any way of making one fit??). TBH though, would a buggy board fit on a loola either? Or the other ones we have considered are the britax vitality vigour (pricey). These second two are also a lot more expensive for the whole package than the hauck.

If anyone has made it to the end of my musings, knows what the hell I am talking about and has any opinions to offer I would be very grateful!

I don't usually but I'm afraid I'm going to keep bumping this!!

Just adding a question as about to have no2 myself..

Can you fold a buggy when it has a buggy board attached?

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 10:16

Oh good lord I'd never even considered that! >>>>>thud

TheBlonde · 17/03/2007 10:18

I think you probably have to take it off to fold it

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 10:20

Esier said than done though in the street with two children and a buggy!

no you can't fold a buggy with a buggyboard still attatched

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 10:23

Ok thank you - so perhaps the buggy board won't be as useful as I orginally thought.

I have a loola and the buggy board fits on it fine. you have to take it off to fold it but the new 3g buggyboard is easy to remove. The hauck infinity is a dream to push but a bit too lightweight to have a board on it as I have tried this as well. my infinity broke after 5 weeks use...front wheel snapped of it when i was on the train station waiting to go home from visiting relatives! I had to push it home on the 2 rear wheels, with a 5 week old baby in it and ds had to walk.

what about a sling for the early days and then use a buggy when your doesn't need ( a buggy board) so much?

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 10:29

I do plan to use a sling too, yes. I've yet to 'meet' a hauck yet, watched the video on kiddicare about it. Plan to try and investigate maybe today! Won't be buying for a while yet but last time I made a complete hash of buggy buying so want to do better this time.

Slightly worrying to hear about yours breaking AAW - what were hauck like to deal with when that happened?

i got mine through toys r us. Hauck were virtually uncontactable directly as they only had overseas numbers to ring. Toys r us were a total nightmare about it and it took my 2 hours of crying, screaming and storming out after they offered to repair it (which i didnt want cos i didnt want to risk it happening again as the same happened to a friend with the same pram!!) In the end they gave me a refund and I bought a graco aerosprt travel system which wasn't really what I wanted but it was all they had at the time. So I sold it and bought a loola. I wish I had bought it from the start tbh. I have had 20 pushchairs up to now and I love my loola! Had it 9 months now and not even looked at another one lol.

AnAngelWithin · 17/03/2007 10:35

btw my friend got hers from kiddicare and they were awful at sorting out hers. In the end she had to get a cheap buggy from the charity shop and it took kiddicare over 3 months to sort out!! they repaired it for her.

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 12:30

Oh, thats a shame. I thought kiddicare were reasonably ok with things. Was thinking about getting it off there. hmm.

It probably had to go back to the manufacturer though so it might be they took ages...

Might be worth starting a thread on the Hauck and see if anyone else has had problems with them

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 12:51

I'll see if I get to look at it today (currently trying to nag DP to get a bloody move on!!) and see if I really like it! Then I probably will thanks!

just to throw in a wild card - what about a p3 pramette - rear facing and you get your toddler to stand on the built in buggy board - that is what they are were designed as they just don't advertise as such since they got sued in the US. Or you could get a p3 and get the carrycot thingy for it. My dds love hithching a ride on the back of my p3 easier than using a buggy board.

gemmiegoatlegs · 17/03/2007 13:07

I don't have any of these, just a regular bog standard reclining mothercare shopper as I had a "proper" pram when dd was born. i do have a similar age gap between my kids and bought a sit n ride buggyboard (useless, ds wouldn't go on it) and eventually a double buggy, i then realised that, like the p3, my pushchair also has a sturdy ride on bit , although not marketed as such. My ds is now 3 and a half and still has "a ride on" and it's really easy as doesn't disturb dd, no contraptions to remove etc

cazzybabs · 17/03/2007 13:09

We have a mountain buggy with a buggy board on and although you do have to take it off to fold it is is really not that tricky - about an extra 10 seconds. We loved our buggy board!

FlossALump · 17/03/2007 13:32

I do wonder how good DS would be about going on it. There would be only one way to find out though!

Looked at the pilko online, hard to see what it does IYSWIM so will go and have a nosey at that one too - I think the same shop stocks both brands. Thank you for that!
