So the question is where is the best place to buy them from. I presume that they are all of the same quality? Who has the best price?

OK - I give in. What's a Soap Nut?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 14/03/2007 11:17

Love the name

You use them instead of soap powder to wash your clothes. Environmentally friendly, cheaper, helps you to weave lentils and all that.

OK thanks. So do you not need any soap powder at all.

Obviously I can't help you with where to buy them from but would probably like to know as I spend many happy(?) hours with my washing machine

NormaStanleyFletcher · 14/03/2007 11:38

Well the ones I got were a free sample from www.underthegooseberrybush.co.uk/ so I will be buying my first lot from them (only fair). They seem to clean really well, though they don't have optical brighteners so in the long run whites could go a bit grey - but you just sort that with some ecover laundry bleach.

www.inasoapnutshell.com (or .co.uk, can't recall) is run by a mum i used to kinda know on another website.

chopchopbusybusy · 14/03/2007 11:43

I might give them a go then - even if only for the darks or lightly stained washes. I've just looked on that link and they are currently out of stock - but thanks for info.

I have heard german ebay is good, or they are on www.spiritofnature.co.uk/acatalog/laundry.html £12.50 for 1kg, I have a free delivery code - FP107, as well!

Tommy · 14/03/2007 18:32

I think Lakeland have them IIRC?
here

nikkie · 14/03/2007 21:05

I use inasoapnutshell mainly 'cos I got my free sample from them and they took paypal. Lakeland are expensive!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 15/03/2007 11:40

Thank you all for those suggestions

What I don't understand: what happens during the rinses?
Do I have to take them out after the wash cycle? Won't they foam during the rinses too, otherwise?

Bananaknickers · 15/03/2007 11:55

Hi I use them and no you don't need to take them out during the rinse cycle.Magic a? The cheapest I have found so far are inasoupnutshell. They are £9 for 500g including postage. She also takes paypal which is great for me because I can uase my E bay fund

Bananaknickers · 15/03/2007 12:20

I put Lavender oil in the coditioner draw to make washing smell nice too ( as you don't need conditoner). Wilkinsons do 10mls of laveneder for only 99p.
