My DS has been invited to his first ever birthday party - for a little girl who will be three. What is the going rate for presents (£5, £10?) and what should I get? Any advice appreciated.

polly pocket
or a book? angellina ballerina?

£5
'Paint a pot' thing with grass hair
ELC musical instrument?
Basically anything that your DS would like that doesn't involve death or detruction!

£5, something from ELC (easy to swap if she already has it) or a book

Art materials. Pick up a Crayola kit, about a fiver, in the supermarket or Smiths. Dead easy, and will go down really well. If you get a collage kit, you can just wrap it up too. Honestly, you can never have too many art materials.

agree £5. you can search the elc website by price/age and there are lots of options.

also agree £5 and can suggest woolies for game like hungry frogs/jitterbugs? hth

I would normally spend between 5 and 10 (and probably nearer 10 for a close friend). At that age, my dd got lots of great jigsaw puzzles - ones with 8 - 20 large pieces - and we still do them today.
