i have a decent sling from Mothercare and a papoose thing.
However yesterday I saw my first Hug a bub and WOW, they look so comfy and so fab.
However it's another £48.50 to shell out.
Is it worth it?

No Fio not paranoid. My mothercare one I ended up having to support DD's heads, esp if I leant forward and my papoose is ok but it's not the best for back support.

This one I saw yesterday made me stare and stare and I had to go and talk tot he mum.

She was leaning right over and baby stayed glued to her chest. It was hard to even see she had a baby in there tbh!

Been looking at the website and it does look fab. But like a right pita to put on! Don't want to pay out £50 and then not really use it.

I bought so many things I didn't use with DD1 and DD2! Like the bath bucket that all it was used for was for me to puke in while i was in labour! Then there was the bumbo seat thing that got used about 5 times!

hire one first?

Actually the jersey wrap slings are just a long piece of cotton jersey and you can make your own - will see if I can link to the instructions...

TeeCee · 13/03/2007 16:46

Yeah hopefully Fio

This is the one I have now but I only ever really used it indoors.
Did treck across London with it one and thought I'd collapse and die half way on my outward journey!

this one

here they are

funnypeculiar · 13/03/2007 16:48

Is it similar to a \link{http://www.sasaslings.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12&zenid=745318cc3bfd4116188e4d415147a709}\moby wrap ... which is much cheaper?!

funnypeculiar · 13/03/2007 16:48

feck try this

TeeCee · 13/03/2007 16:49

Alway s MNrsBadge, always you, you're fab!

Thing with renting though it's £10 for 2 weeks and what if you then decide you want to buy one? It'll have cost you £60 then.

And not sure I would trust myself to make one. Thta sounds all a bit oo arts and crafty for me!!!!

i can lend one of you ladies a calin bleu guaze wrap sling to try out and practise with. (teecee how old is dd2 now, you may practise with her?)

another one to look at is the moby wrap sling. i had this one, and used it with dd3 a lot, especially when dh was in a wheelchair. the front cross carry is very easy to master. i used the guaze sling last summer with dd3 at 28months, in a baking hot london underground, was fine. I also had a basic stroller with me in case she got grouchey and too hot, but didnt use it.

MrsBadger · 13/03/2007 16:50

see what you mean re hiring

but there's not even any sewing - you just buy a length of fabric, cut it lengthways, wrap it round and never mind the raw edges

misdee · 13/03/2007 16:51

oops i meant 18months, she isnt even 28months yet.

misdee · 13/03/2007 16:52

and have b/feed with the moby, walking round a market and car boot sale.

TeeCee · 13/03/2007 16:53

MrsBadger, bless you but I don't know if I could! I know that may sound mad, I just.... I dunno....

Misdee, DD2 is 15 months.

is she small? and how is your bump? would your dp be willing to give the sling a try?

misdee · 13/03/2007 16:57

the guaze doesnt have a much give as the jersery slings (i prefer jersey for new borns) but it will give you an idea of how they are and what they are like to wear. i kept a maya ring sling in the car for quick journeys out, that is also good, but did prefer the wraps.

TeeCee · 14/03/2007 19:28

Hi misdee, sorry, not been online for a while.
I think I might just bite the bullet and go for the hug a bub. I think it's all about transporting the new one around while the other 2 ride in the e3 and also so I can b.feed on the go.

I have been umming and ahhing about slings but finally went for the moby as it's 20 quid cheaper than the HAB but looks basically the same apart from the pocket

SoupDragon · 14/03/2007 19:43

Go on, make one! You only need to cut a straight line
