Teeth Whitening - has anyone tried it?

Boots seems to have a range of teeth-whitening stuff - mine are yellow and horrible and as I'm getting married in a month and will be forced to smile in photos I've been thinking about sorting it out. Can anyone recommend anything? Does it actually work? Thanks!

just been to dentist, so can lend (his) pearls of wisdom, pardon the pun.He said pearl drops and the like are "good for superficial removal of moderate staining but aren't sufficiently strong to make a real difference in tooth colour"
He therefore suggests bleaching at the dentists (sorry, not sure how much) as concentration of 10% as opposed to 1% as in over-the-counter lotions.
He woudl say that,I guess, as he wants the business but was convinced.
Oh and congratulations, btw!

I had this treatment and it certainly worked although after 3 years it probably needs to be redone. I had it done in the US (whilst on a business trip!) where it was effectively half the price. Not painful, not scarey, not even really that uncomfortable but very effective.

I had my teeth bleached at the dentist. you have a mould make up in plastic of your teeth and then you put the bleaching gell into the mould and fit it over them. The dentist had a row of teeth (not real!!) varying in colour and he was able to match my teeth colour to that and then show me how many shades lighter the bleach would take it. They dont make it white white, but then personally I dont think that looks natural. If you want hollywood white you will have to go for the treatment Issymum had. i was very pleased with the gel, you use it for three days running, two hours per day. The only drawback is it can make you teeth and gums very sensitive but I had sensitive teeth anyway. Cost was £150 each, i.e. top and bottom. HTH

I had it done at the dentists 3 years ago. I had a mould taken of my teeth, then wore it using capsules of hydrogen peroxide every night for several weeks. It definitely made a difference, although it wasn't quite the gleaming white I had envisaged (apparently you only get that with veneers).

It was quite expensive (I think about £350) but I was told if I have top-ups done in the future, it will be cheaper because I already have the mould and will just have to pay for the capsules.

our dentist does this one here but we are thinking about it rather than tried itn yet

I tried an over-the-counter one a year ago, bought in Boots but not own-brand. Cost about 30 quid I think. It seemed a bit messy and unpleasant and tbh I don't think it had much, if any, effect.

I also had brite smile done in an hour at the dentist by laser. It was dear (£550) but very effective and of course instant the only downside being that my teeth have been noticeably a bit more sensitive ever since. Prior to that I did buy the kit from Boots but was honestly getting nowhere at all with it so talk the more direct route. If you can afford it (or if someone will pre-wedding treat you) I would definately go for the 1 hour job.

Have a fab day BTW

Yes, Tutti is right, I buy the capsules about once a year and they are only abut £6 I think. So after the initial outlay it's cheap

Thank you all - I think I'll try and find the money for a proper dentist job - it is something I've been very conscious about for a while.
