Double buggies - advice wanted!

We're expecting twins in August and need a double buggy. Some questions we'd really like help with are:

  1. tandem or side-by-side?
  2. which brand/model?
  3. where to buy (we are in West London but is there a good place to buy online?)

Any help really appreciated. These are our first children and we don't know what we're doing?!

most tandems are unsuitable for twins because front seat is 6 mths plus

I think the jane one can have 2 car seats attached for 2 newborns but car seats are not good for long periods.

Yes we noticed that about the tandems when we looked at a couple today. Why aren't car seats good for long periods? Do they get uncomfortable?

babies should lie flat.

I like the Phil & Teds prams, I bought a twin buggy for £450 it is the best one I'v ever used, really easy to push, fold, store etc. I'm actually selling it for £200 as I didn't find it until my toddler was old enough to walk I now have the e3 which is like a tandem one(not suitable for twins)

But I'd certainly recommend the Phil&Teds e3Twin, it fits in most doorways, its side by side & made for twins or two of different ages. Wonderfull

Congratulations!

Lilliput in Battersea is a good place to look. Double Mountain buggy would be my choice, with carry cots to begin with.

Good luck!

Yes babies need to be flat as it causes stress on the lungs and as the head is in a upright position with a baby who has no head control it can cut off the airflow.

So I was told from my SCBU Consultant

That's why carry cots are great to begin with. And you get to look at your babies too

Nipper double-totally brilliant. Only pushchair we bought for our twins, so good(thin, light)we've just downsized to the single version.
