Highchair Rant

MrShev · 09/03/2007 11:58

Does anyone who designs the products for Mamas and Papas actually have children?!?

We have a Prima Papa highchair and it must take 20mins to clean the bloomin' thing after every onslaught of baby food fun that DS inflicts upon it. Am buying an Ikea chair or other at earliest chance.

Mama's and Papas? Maids and Nannies I think...

Grrrrr!

Thank You. Feel better now.

Had 2 (don't ask) - sold em both!

I had to scrub them in the bath before I could sell them!!

I hate those big cushioned plastic monstrosities

Get yourself a Tripp Trapp or cheapy Ikea highchair. Much much easier to keep clean.

Flamesparrow · 09/03/2007 14:29

Funds was our choice decider - no ikea near us, and these 2 going free I wonder why...

MrShev · 09/03/2007 15:11

Same with us - highchair was a gift. Now I look at that plastic foodtrapper with contempt.

And - AND - to open and close the thing you need two hands. For crying out loud - this is design 101 here, what is wrong with them?

If you live in Notts, Cambs or the East Midlands, you can now buy the Ikea chair online and they will deliver it to you for £7.50.

Yes, really!

Flamesparrow · 09/03/2007 15:21

In Bournemouth...

There are rumours of a store being built though, so hurrah! I too can have cheap fleece throws

I was doing that for a while - ended up ebaying cr*ppy highchairs and swiping friend's basic one

SHHHH · 10/03/2007 22:51

another prima pappa fool here...Its the crappest highchair ever. Seemed a good idea at the time BUT now around 14 months later we now know its a nightmare to clean, the chair is positioned wonky and won't sit straight and to open it is a nightmare......need 2 hands and 2 feet and in the end we have to push the back bottom bar to open......which in turn means to close it its hard work and it doesn't stay shut.......... DD aged 20 month is still using it and ds (3 weeks) will need it later on but thinking about getting rid as its that bad.

Cost a fortune as well. BUT mum bought a cheapo one from mothercare thats fantastic...grrrrrrrrrrr....

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 23:08

Honestly, I urge you - ebay the thing - got £31 for one, £15 for the other... buyer collect both.

Spend the money on something decent!

MrShev · 12/03/2007 13:57

Got rid of the blooming thing and bought a Tripp Trapp doodah which is excellent.

Yes I agree re M&P.

Splash mat - too small

Stick on rattle thing for high chair - didn't stick

High chair itself - impossible to clean, too bulky to store, generally annoying.

etcetc

Got an Ikea hc for ds2 which was fab.

Enid · 12/03/2007 14:03

god those mummas and pappas are crap

chuck it and get the ikea antilop

whoopsfallenoveragain · 12/03/2007 14:06

Flame - I should be going to Ikea at some point if you want me to get you one!!

Flamesparrow · 12/03/2007 14:26
