I've got the pliko travel system and think it's wonderful. I have friends who have the freestyler who have been out and brought the pliko because the freestyler is just too bulky when folded.

I've got the Pliko pushchair and overall it's great. We wanted something lightweight but sturdy and something that wasn't going to take up the whole boot. After a disastrous purchase with DD (3 in 1 plus huge thing) we decided to go for the Pliko. Only thing that I would criticise it for is the opening mechanism, which on ours is temperamental, although I find a good swear and throw on the floor usually helps.
We decided not to have the travel system as there were new recommendations out (14months ago) regarding the amount of time a newborn should stay in their carseat, so we opted to go for the 'wake-them up and lay them flat' approach when we got to destinations. We were swayed as well as we took DS at 6 weeks to France by car and didn't want him in the same position for ages. Don't know what they say about travel systems now but I'm sure that someone may be able to help you here..... Happy shopping!!

Poppyseed, we were told to keep the hinges lubricated with furniture polish which really seems to work.

Wow, as a new MNetter I am still amazed at fab nuggets I learn -justifying my addiction and probable forthcoming warning from work!!

Poppyseed, thank goodness it's not just me with the opening/closing mechanism. I find the swear, throw and force routine works a treat too (tho a bit difficult at nursery/in public places!). Annoyingly it never happens for DH! Pram shop also recommended regular application of any furniture polish to catches and wheels to avoid tantrums (mine!)...but even this remains a bit of a challenge!

Really happy with Pliko otherwise and have had no temptation to buy lightweight buggy (DD 18mths)as many friends with bigger prams have. We've even taken it abroad a couple of times with no probs. Pliko just seems so comfortable for her too - she can sit upright or lie down. I'd recommend it - seat easily machine washable too and available in stylish colours! HTH

Thanks poppyseed.

Twiglett, cleanliness on the babyfront is far from top of my list . Only done it once due to impact of bright orange vomit and suncream on pale beige fabric!!

If you really want to know....it's basically some poppers and one semi-fiddly bit with a plastic widget to get fabric off the arms. It then slides off and you bung in washing machine on 30/40 degree wash with usual detergent. I think the widget comes off so make sure it doesn't go in machine or go missing via helpful fingers during washing cycle. It replaces the same way tho watch out for the poppers at the rear of the seat - I forgot and couldn't work out what was wrong! It's like having a new buggy again!

Or just use a sheepskin or equivalent seat liner to hide the marks!!

Sorry I can't be more technical in description it - but I'm not and it's a year since i did it! It's not hard to take off or put back.I think man in fenwicks showed me how as mamas & papas shop said you couldn't wash it, great product knowledge & staff training, huh!!

Hope it works - I have nightmarish visions of you with just a frame and it's my fault - aargh!
