Slings - got the Corrie but want to 'upgrade' - which one for a newborn that wants to be carried all the time

hugabub looks good but complicated?
I like the corrie but it seems to be the only way to keep DS2 (6 weeks) from screaming house down so consequently am wearing it a lot - therefore could do with one that is more comfortable if wearing for long periods.

Kangaroo Korner Adjustable Fleece Pouch - DS lived in it! I now use it a lot with my clingy 16 week old mindee. You can use them in a variety of positions - see link for more info. It is FAB - easy to put on/ off & to get the baby in & out (it stretches) and adjustable.

What Corrie do you have? I found my fleecy Corrie amongst the best. I used a ring sling too, one I'd made, from a slightly stretchy fabric.

At 6 weeks your DS shouldn't be that heavy. Are you sure you're usijng the sling right?

Gingerbear · 06/03/2007 19:53

katierocket, why is the coorie not comfy for long periods? Is it because it is a one shoulder sling?

MrsApron · 06/03/2007 19:53

if uncomfortable it may be too big. Does your DS once in the sling sit above your tummy button?

pollyanna · 06/03/2007 19:55

hug a bub (or the maya wrap sling which is the same but much cheaper) is the best sling ime. I can still carry my 2 year old in mine. It looks complicated but it isn't and you soon get the hang of tying it. I found it the most comfortable out of alot of slings

SoupDragon · 06/03/2007 19:55

I wore BabyDragon in her Coorie loads and never had a problem. I wonder if yours is the right size too.

SoupDragon · 06/03/2007 19:55

You can make a wrap sling from a length of fabric.

redtent · 06/03/2007 19:56

I definately like the Moby wrap (better than the H-A-B imho)

Looks comlpicated but there are so many online instructions and videos you'd get it in no time... well worth it ime.

redtent · 06/03/2007 19:57

oooh soupydragon a lady after my own heart... a DIY wrap was how I started out

puppydavies · 06/03/2007 20:02

tricotti is what i have in mind for next newborn. is 2 stretch pouches worn together so spreads weight across both shoulders/back, but without the minor juggling act of tying a wrap. will prob make an "alike" though cos they don't sell cheap even second hand.

TuttiFrutti · 06/03/2007 20:04

Sling Easy is very good - comfortable and easy to use.

SoupDragon · 06/03/2007 20:11

redtent, BabyDragon's Coorie is homemade because I didn't believe it would work and didn't want to waste money on a bought one

katierocket · 06/03/2007 20:12

pretty sure it's right size (it does sit above tummy button), originally the one I got was too small (couldn't even fit baby in it) so changed for larger size. It just gives me back ache after about 2 hours.
It is the fleecy one Cristina and I do think it's good, just wondered if a different one might be better for long periods.

I shall check out all the ones mentioned here. Corrie has been a godsend so far (for shouty DS2) - has turned me into a bit of a sling addict.

crikey soupy that is admirable. I can't find time to wash myself let alone make a sling. plus I..er..can't sew.

katierocket · 06/03/2007 20:14

Gingerbear · 06/03/2007 20:25

I can cut, but I cannot follow those instructions! Tis like performing origami on yourself.

katierocket · 07/03/2007 08:13

I want all of them!

katierocket · 07/03/2007 08:17
