Sling advice for second baby please

My first child will be 22 months old when my second baby is born in April. I didn't get on well with a sling first time round but would love recommendations so I can just take newborn out on my front while toddler is in his usual pushchair. Has anyone used a 'Coorie Pouch Sling' which is at www.brightsparkslings.co.uk/slings.htm ?????
It looks like baby might fall out?! Thanks, k

Coorie!! Definitely a coorie. Absolutely fabulous. DD has been in hers virtually every day since she was born last Feb.

thanks for the tips they're great. as the coorie is made of fleece do u find it gets hot in the summer versus a cotton sling?

Posted on another thread... I have a cotton jersy Kimmer and a thin cotton Peerie (same as a Coorie but with different names tbh!) for Summer and indoors. The Peerie is fab as it folds up to nothing so is great for an emergency sling IYSWIM. The Kimmer has a padded bit where their legs dangle out (older baby!) for added comfort.

I don't know if the fleece is actually hot on a summer day but I would imagine it could be, hence I bought a lightweiaght version. I made my fleece one though so it cost me peanuts.

Would a coorie/kimmer pouch style sling work better if you just need something to sling () on fast to drop ds1 into nursery etc? Cos I have a baby bjorn which I hate hate hate, and I just bought a freedom ring sling which I cannot even manage to put on properly. I don't want something I can wear for hours, just something quick & comfy when I need my hands free. Is pouch the style for me in that case? Advice, please?!!

SoupDragon · 08/03/2007 14:29

the Coorie is definitely a sling-it-on sling You put it on like a sash and it's ready to slot your baby in.

SoupDragon · 08/03/2007 14:29

and if you can sew, you can make one yourself.

I've got a mesh ring sling which I keep meaning to sell. I never got on with the ring aspect of it... Thos hotslings are much the same as the Coorie ones really.

accessorizewithbabysick · 08/03/2007 15:48

Hotslings are quite pretty tho, I had eyed them off mysel before. Bought the ring as it was recommended by another mumsnetter for big norkS! DS2 is ono 3 months but quite chunky, maybe 16 pounds? Would pouch still suit?
Can sew but can't be a$%$d quite frankly!

SoupDragon · 08/03/2007 16:38

"recommended by another mumsnetter for big norkS!" Do you use it instead of a bra then?

They are pretty, I agree completely. Esxcept I'd have to have one to match every outfit I own. ("outfit" hahahahaha! I'm a SAHM FFS )

BabyDragon is 12 months and sits in her pouch like a hipseat

accessorizewithbabysick · 08/03/2007 16:50

Well, as I can't figure out how the hell to put it on (without my baby falling on his head) I'll stick with a bra for the time being
If I could use it until 12 months with Baby err...Sick I'd be happy as can't carry him in the bjorn thingy at all.

SoupDragon · 08/03/2007 17:00

I use my sling mainly for the school run dropping DS1 & 2 off. It is perfect for this. I can kind of slither out of it and just put BabyDragon sling and all in the carseat too - great when she was little and used to go to sleep It't been great for airport journeys, underground journeys, shops withstairs and no lift... For a no frills slp-on-in-a-second sling I don't think it can be beaten.

accessorizewithbabysick · 08/03/2007 21:53

That sounds exactly what I was after, SoupDragon. My lo still falling asleep in car seats, I shall appreciate it whilst I can! Just got to decide now between a hotslings & a kimmer as I think fleece would just be too hot come the warmer weather.
