hoping someone can help...

we have roller blinds (sounds naff, but look ok ) in the nursery, but they are creamy coloured and therefore the room is very light during the day. Just wondered if there is anything i can do rather than buy new blackout blinds (can't be bothered with all that measuring/cutting etc) or curtains and really don't want to resort to blu-tacking black card (dh's suggestion ) on the windows.

Not a problem now, but thinking as it starts to get lighter ds will wake sooner in the mornings...or is this not true?

Can't you just buy some blackout material & stitch it to the back of his existing curtains??

Can't really see an alternative.

Ah have just read you don't want curtains.. ..

sorry!

Oooo am glad i've got you. My po was closed yesterday but I got your cheque so will post the sling on Monday

Well you could either stick up a curtain pole and have curtains as well as your blind.

Other than that, I'm not really sure.

don't have curtains in there...do you think it would work if i velcro'ed blackout material on when they are down? want to be able to still roll them up in the day IYSWIM

Oh yeah, a strip of velcro in each corner and the same on your blackout sheet.
That shoudl do it.

blackout material is all well and good, but the light just comes round them at the sides/top/bottom. a surprising amount actually. the only real solution is a blind and curtains, one of which has blackout properties and one of which is mounted outside the window recess, covering the gaps left by the blind inside the recess.

or some kind of all-the-way-round pelmet i guess!

thanks for the suggestions...will try the velcro and blackout material, maybe on the window frame to block out more light...

really don't want curtains as the windows are funny shapes and haven't got a sewing machine

maybe easier to move house and start again!
