all in one waterproof suits - been told it's best to buy 'up a few sizes' - but how many sizes?

Pretty much says it all. Am going for a regatta puddle splash suit here seem to be the cheapest but how many sizes up should I buy?

DS is 17 months, but currently still mostly in 12-18 months clothes. I was hoping to fit this waterproof over his coat, or is it better to buy a more expensive 'togz' waterproof thingy that you can get a a fleecy liner for?

Hope someone can help - I need to make this purchase urgently as DS is turning into a mud magnet and I am fed up washing his coat every other day!

I'd buy 2-3 and roll sleeves up/legs up. it will fit over his coat too

ComeOVeneer · 02/03/2007 14:37

I bought the exact one earlier this week. DS turned 2 in december and is a big boy (over 15kgs). I bought him the 2 year one and it fits fine.

mammaduck · 02/03/2007 14:41

Which one veneer? the regatta one or the togz one?

My dd2 has an age 2 one, has been wearing it since she was 12m.

mammaduck · 02/03/2007 14:51

Right - have gone for a 2 year old regatta one, in red, not that that's relevant at all.

Thanks for advice!

Am looking forward to not silently despairing every time he goes face down in a muddy puddle.

they look very funny in ones that are too tight

kind of like you have shrink-wrapped them

mammaduck · 02/03/2007 14:55

Thanks for that cappuccino! Let's hope the one I've just bought is roomy then!

I was hoping to actually buy one in a shop so I could hold it up against him and make a more informed decision but have not had any luck finding one and only have limited chances to actually take DS shopping anyway, so decided to take the risk and buy online without having seen the thing first.

I got some fabby little trekkers ones. My dses are small (2.3 and 1.3) and I got them 18 - 24 and 2- 3 and they are mahoosive. But they look fab and keep them very dry.

Dd is just growing out of her 6-12 mth Regatta one (same as yours) and she's 2 in a month! She's tallish but slim for her age. I like the fact that you can wrap them up as much or as little underneath this one. I like the Togz ones but they're blimmin expensive and when it's still wet in May they'd be too hot I reckon. One thing about the Regatta one though, a little dampness does get through if they're soaked (huge puddle incident on Sunday - hilarious of course!).

mammaduck · 02/03/2007 15:01

Good to know piglit!

I have tried really hard not to stop DS from 'exploring' as I know it's really important, but it's really hard to get a thick duffle coat washed and dry in this weather, and it just sucks up the dirty water like a sponge - yuck!

I think he will pretty much be living in it as soon as it arrives - he even gets muddy going to the library - I kid you not!

Oh believe me, Songbird. "A little dampness" won't bother me. At least I won't be dealing with a minature Stig of the Dump.

Sorry had to do the school run. I got the red 2-3 year old regatta one.

ComeOVeneer · 02/03/2007 16:36

LOL at "Stig". DS manages to get covered from head to foot, even found mud in his ears at bath time.
