I have pram depression - why did I not listen to everyone on here who said I should get an e3???

I am in the midst of a pram depression why (I here you laugh)??? Well I'm going to tell you because you all are the only people that will listen!

I have DD1 (2.7yo) and DD2 (13mo) so need a double buggy for them, DD2 is little and is a runner so I need to contain her when I'm out on my own with them.

I spent nearly all of DD2's pregnancy debating which double buggy to get I nearly bought a Phil and Ted's but a few people on here put me off it plus the money aspect as well. I ended up with a M&P Twin Aria which I hate with a passion. It's tricky to fold, the parcel tray is rubbish and you cannot put anything in it or it drags on the ground, with the 2 DDs in it it's difficult to get up kerbs etc with it's small wheels, I forked out £90 for 2 matching footmuffs but they are really for a single and are too big for the double so they are difficult to put on so it takes about 20 minutes to get out of the car. Then I put it in the shed (only place I can store it) and it's gone all mouldy, also a cat peed on it so I had to wash it all etc and the footmuffs have gone a funny shape.

A friend also gave me a Graco Stadium Duo but it seen better days and is a bit grubby (despite my best efforts) it's better at kerbs but feels like you are pushing a train.

So if I go out it's either useless Twin Aria or grubby Graco. There's no way DP would agree to a P&T's now, even on ebay they fetch £300 so I suppose I am stuck with them. I have serious pram envy when I see other people pushing lovely new prams

We are thinking of ttc no 3 in the summer and I'm thinking as soon as I'm pregnant of getting an e3 as I've told DP I'm not putting a newborn in any of the prams I have. DP thinks I'm insane as I have 4 buggies in total (a single Graco and a Techno XT).

Sorry for the whinge, any suggestions to whip me out of my pram depression would be appreciated (even if it's just to tell me to sort myself out there's more to worry about)!

Big hugs, I've had a really bad couple of weeks so have bought 2 pushchairs to cheer myself up - and it hasn't worked - really depressed!

I do understand pushchair envy completely!!!! If you can handle side by side tehn how about an alu-rax or a town twister much chaeper and nice to use. Sorry I had a P&T Kiwi and I loved it and only just sold it for £180 - keep looking on ebay???

3sEnough · 01/03/2007 16:53

LOL - I've had 3 children but 5 prams - I vastly regret one of them, slightly regret one of them, fine with 2 and delighted with 1 - the E3!! Sell it on ebay and buy and e3.

Start a piggy bank fund for your new pushie now. If you have £10 or £20 spare at the end of the month put it in your piggy bank. I'll soon build up. Then when you do manage to fall pg it'll subsidise the hit to your bank account.
As in reality it's probably you who uses the pushie most you need a pram you're happy with. Why be unhappy for another 3 years.

Make dd1 walk and use the Techno for dd2.

sweetkitty · 01/03/2007 17:21

I'm an idiot the Twin Aria was £190 + £90 for the sodding footmuffs/cosytoes! Cannot even sell the damn thing as it's so wrecked.

prettycandles - wish I could make DD1 walk but at 2.7y I think she is still too little. Whenever I can I ditch the doubles and have her walk with DD2 in the Techno but when I'm shopping or walking long distances it can't be done plus she's a runner and won't stay by the pram.

helly - spare £10-£20 at the end of the month what's that???

buggy board on seat 2 go on the techno, olus reins so she can't run off?

sweetkitty · 01/03/2007 17:27

I am thinking about a buggy board thing for the techno and literally strapping DD1 to it. Only thing is with living in Scotland it is more often than not freezing and raining.

Buggyboard and reeins defo good idea. Ds1 was 2y3m when dd was born and he was fine on the buggyboard.

lunavix · 01/03/2007 17:29

I have ds who is 2.10 and dd who is 6 months . I had my e3 since dd was around 4 weeks old and I HATED it.

I lusted after it and spent a small fortune getting it. But it is total crap.

DD hated being in it from the second we got it. The newborn bit is very enclosed and she really didn't like the motion of it.

I bought a second hand Mamas and Papas 3in1 pram/pushchair and she now cries to go out in it!!!

I've since sold the e3 on ebay and wish I'd bought a new Mamas and Papas although the fabric mine is (which I love) was discontinued so I couldn't have got it new anyways.

DON'T DO IT!!!

PrettyCandles · 01/03/2007 17:30

Position on the buggyboard is very sheltered by yiu and the buggy. She'll be fine with a warm raincaot.

BuffysMum · 01/03/2007 17:31

Could you live with a side by side 3 wheeler with a swivel wheel they are fab provided you can cope with side by side IYSWIM

sweetkitty · 01/03/2007 17:38

I'm off to look at buggy boards on ebay (think I'll also post a thread on here for info on the best one).

Was actually thinking of dusting down my Graco Quattro travel system (DD1's first pram) and letting her sit in the parcel tray)!

Not so ridiculous! We put the buggy board on our stroller, and let ds1 perch on the frame of our Graco's shopping basket. Although the bb fitted the Graco, he was quite comfy on the frame and I found it easier to push that way.

poppyh · 02/03/2007 15:42

I completely understand. When dd2 was born i was given an m&p twin aria and hated it for all the reasons you do. I put money by and it took me three months to save for an e3 and it was worth it! miss it now though and im trying to save for a mountain buggy as i only need a single now!

maisiemog · 03/03/2007 13:11

Could you sell off what you can of prams and any other outgrown things on Ebay and then buy the E3.
Or one of those three-step things that are like a buggy board, but the child can sit down on them - and you can ping your shins on them.
Can't say I agree about the always freezing in Scotland - I live in Edinburgh and we have had about two nights this Winter where it has been below freezing. Admittedly it has rained a lot this Winter, but it's been well above average for temperature.
Perpetuating the myth that Scotland is in the Artic circle, my relatives think I live in an igloo and drive a dog-sled.

DarrellRivers · 03/03/2007 13:33

Buy the E3, keep it in pristine(ish ) condition and then sell on ebay and sell all other prams on ebay apart from simple stroller.
I was heading for being a serial pushchair abuser until i bought the phil and ted.
Now only hvae that and a cheapy mcclaren stroller.

NappiesGalore · 03/03/2007 16:23

aw SK - havnt seen you about for ages, so is good to 'see' you but not so good to hear youre feeling all pants about this...

agree; the twin aria is kerrrrap. so is the single come to mention it. tis one of my old mistakes.

NappiesGalore · 03/03/2007 16:30

ive got a rather fab bertini steerable double pram thing if you want that? is a bit faded, the fabric, but is a great pram, brilliant suspension, faces back or forward, can lie flat for newbie...looks enormous but is actually same width as any other sidebyside (ie does 'standard' doorway width) huge basket under. i have a footmuffy thing and raincover for it too soemwhere... you could either keep it, or shine it up and ebay it and use the dosh towards the e3?

dunno what would cost to courier it to you, but cant be more than about 20-30 quid, can it?

fuzzywuzzy · 03/03/2007 16:44

There's a new version of the e3 out now, the second seat apparantly reclines.....so you can save for the newer version it's called the e3 sport....

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/03/2007 16:45

nappies, if it goes unwanted, i may be interested in it?
or is that cheeky?
i have a really crap mothercare tandem which is about 7 years old.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/03/2007 16:46

i wanted an e3 but heard horror stories of fingers in the wheel spokes and baby getting wet.

fuzzywuzzy · 03/03/2007 16:53

I've got to say neither of my dd's got wet, nor did they get their fingers stuck in the wheel spokes!!!, the new version has mud guards fitted on the wheels so the secodn seat doesn't get splashed.

The main down side imo is that it was heavy and big when folded down.

misdee · 03/03/2007 16:54

lol dd3 get peed on by dd2 once! but aside from that, with the new mudguards, its a fab buggy!

misdee · 03/03/2007 16:56

oh and i am selling a single orange one btw.

NotanOtter · 03/03/2007 17:13

are the mudguards just on the new sport?
