Possibly the dullest topic ever but....can anyone recommend...

...a cooker hood extractor thingy? We need one, I'm fed up with my house stinking of whatever I cooked last night and having to freeze with the back door open in the winter so the smoke alarms don't go off when cooking smoky things! PLEASE and THANK YOU!

an extractor is an extractor ime. never really seen the point in the hood bit. mind you, they have filters in them that get filthy - maybe that's it.

I have a kuppersbusch stainless stell and glass one that was about £150 ,the light is the best bit ,can't find a link though.

We only have one small window that opens in the kitchen window and I can't reach it the ones in the breakfast room are ruddy huge sash windows and it's too cold! Like the look of the one you linked to cod but ours has to fit in an alcove as our cooker fits in the alcove where the chimney used to be so we just need one to slot in above, not suggesting you need to look one for me but just not ignoring the ones you put up. Good g*d someone stop me, I'm boring myself

They're cheaper than I thought, bet it will cost more to have it put in than to buy
We don't have room for the pipe/shaft bit on the top unless we start knocking holes in the chimney breast, would that bit go inside the chimney?

We've got a stainless steel one that came with our 5 ring hob -think its a Diplomat one?

It has removable metal filters that you wash -I think some have filters that you have to throw away and replace IIRC.

It has 3 settings -the most powerful is very loud though. I tend to use it on least powerful and the cooking smells still get extracted.

I would recommend it for sending babies off to sleep though -DS loved it as a baby
