Sky Marco Double Buggy - advice appreciated

Could you give me some advice? I've just been offered a 2nd hand Sky Marco for £60. My DS1 will have just turned 2 when DC2 is born. I am looking for a tandem rather than a side by side buggy. Would any of you recommend the Marco? Does the toddler sit in the front or the back, I can't work it out? I'm a bit concerned as DS1 is quite a solid child and I am small (5') although my DH, who will be the main carer, is 5'10. Also, I believe that I can't use this buggy for newborns. Is that right?
Sorry for the 20 questions, any advice/experience would be a great help. Thanks.

I don't have one but I think you can use it from birth
The rear seat goes flat so the baby goes in the back
Toddler in the front

Handles are high I think so good for tall folk but not for short

I do wonder about the build quality/sturdiness of these things.

Hiya I'm currently on my 3rd Marco! My DS is 2.8 and my dd2 is 10 months. He is in the front and she is in the back.

The front seat doesn't recline at all and the back one doesn't go all that far. It is recommended from 6 months because of that but dd2 has been in it since maybe 4/5 months - It was fairly easy to lie her back and wedge her so she was properly supported!

They are very sturdy and a dream for going shopping or on a bus if you need to. It takes a little while to get used to the feeling of the weight at the front and managing to get up the kerb but you soon get the hang of it!

forgot to say, the handles are high. I found them worse on a Marco Sky L (newever version)

Marscentio · 19/02/2007 14:02

No good for you but good for your DH. You need to be about 5'6" to cope with it.

Not good for newborns but fine once they are 6 months. So easy to get on and off of buses.

I love mine. Well when I used it, they walk now.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Do you think, being such a shortie, i'll really struggle with it then?

I think it might be, I'm 5'5ish and I felt it horrible - but then feel totally fine with the earlier model. Could you ask whoever offered it to you if you could take it for a walk with your ds1 and see how it feels?

I've got a Marco Sky L, and think its brilliant. I can get around so much more easily now

Marscentio · 19/02/2007 17:03

Yes! Trust me. I love love loved my Marco... just do a search in the threads lol!

You are (too be blunt...sorry) far too short for it! (the smile is to soften the blow).

Overrun · 19/02/2007 17:05

I'm 5.5 and can manage mine

Marscentio · 19/02/2007 17:11

That's cos you're 5'5" babe. She's 5'! lol @overrun!

Overrun · 19/02/2007 19:04

Arhh

JonahB · 19/02/2007 21:20

thanks again.

Marscentio, lols at trying to soften the blow. I realised many many years ago that I was never going to be a model or be able to fit into anything other than "petite" clothes . It is good to hear that you taller ladies are happy with it though. As I'm not the main carer, a buggy designed for taller people may be perfect for DH.

Hi Jonah,
I got my buggy from an Ebay shop and it's virtually identical to the Marco Sky.Cant "do" links but have a look at Ebay item number 170080849715-that's where I got mine from.It came the next day and although I'm also short at about 5ft 3",it doesn't seem too high to push. The front seat is very roomy which is great as Ds is on the large side.My friend has also bought the same buggy and has been using it since her dd was born 2 weeks ago and she loves it.It doesn't lie completely flat but if you're only nipping to the shops or not going to be out for long,I'd still use it.Afterall...most car seats aren't flat and are used from birth.Only downside I can see is it's very heavy to lift into the car,BUT it is also the only double buggy that will fit in the boot of my Fiesta-that's why I bought it.
I'll let you know when I start using it.

Marscentio · 20/02/2007 09:58

here's the link. Don't know what I think about it. Looks very much like a marco though. But then I'm finished with buggies now. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bubbaloo · 20/02/2007 11:10

Thanks for the link.
