Does anyone know of a house/doll's house that is suitable for my nearly 2 year old ds .... I was wondering whether he might enjoy something like this for his birthday. He has a farm etc which he loves and I thought about the ELC rocket etc but figured he wouldnt really know what it was ... but would imagine he would have fun playing with a house! Does anyone else find their ds enjoys playing house - I looked at the elc one but it is very expensive and pink pink pink! any ideas?

you may well be right scotlou .. i am constantly guilty of trying to buy things that are that little bit too old for him, although he does love putting all his animals and the farmer to bed in his farm etc.

We got an 'old style' plain ELC one on ebay for DD.
Think the pink one is quite a new thing and I'm NOT happy as all the furniture is pink/lilac as well - far too stereotypical for my liking!

ds 5 has just finished playing with his fisher price one - he loved it. i've found when i've bought him pressies that were too old for him when he has got old enough to play with them they were either broken or he was bored with them.

DS had a Happy land one from the ELC, I think would love a wooden one, but he is 5 now so i think he has grown out of it.

There was a lovely wooden one in Toys r us last year. Not all pink and fluffy!Have no idea if they are still selling it though. Am surprised ELC have only made theirs pink this year as seems very sexiest! My husband made an amazing dolls house with loft space and garage for my DD1 for xmas last year. Its nicer than the house we live in!! Out of all the friends my DD has over its the boys who play with it more by far. I reckon your DS will love it.

one mumsnetter I know bought the Willow Hall Sylvanian family house for her dss. They seem to play with it.

When I was little boys always used to play with my dolls house when they visited us.

About the age, my 2yo dd plays with our dolls house more than her 6 and 5 yo sisters. They ignore it mostly.

Just checked and toys r us still selling the dolls house and its half price (£49). Have never done a link so sorry havent attached one but is easy to find on their website toysrus.co.uk.

thanks Winston, that looks great - all I have to do now is persuade my dp that £50 isnt too much to spend on something potentially girly for our ds!

Woolies have a wooden one with lots of pieces of furniture for £30. It is sold out online but its worth ringing to see if a store near you has stock ? Here is the link (i hope)
