pop up or folding travel cot for toddlers - does such a thing exist?

My lo is nearly 18 months. We don't have loads of space and so far have managed without a travel-cot.

I really like the idea of a foldaway or pop up cot, rather than the standard big oblong ones, but so far all the ones I've seen are for little babies, not toddlers.

Any ideas anyone?

We are going to stay with a childless friend soon who therefore has no child-equipment at all, so we are having to take everything with us.

Thanks!

you could try a bed guard if she has a single bed

my dds were in single beds at 18mths

nailpolish · 15/02/2007 14:51

ora ready bed?

mammaduck · 15/02/2007 15:01

what's a ready bed, nailpolish?

I did think about bed guards but he is such a wriggler I'm really scared he would fall out. He has a big normal cot at home and is used to being able to roll around all over the place without falling out.

when you say they were in single beds, was that the very low toddler beds? obviously an adult single bed is quite a bit higher up.

never fell out

ready bed

nailpolish · 15/02/2007 15:04

lol!

mammaduck · 15/02/2007 15:09

spooky! great minds think alike!

i really haven't even considered putting him in a bed yet - i guess I thought I would do it either

a) when no2 comes along (not yet

b) when he outgrows the cot (not likely to happen soon, there's masses of room left

whichever occurs first.

well - that's me off to argos when DS wakes up.

thanks again!

If you want a readybed you can get one online at vertbaudet for £4.99. We have been discussing it on another baby site.

Log onto Vertbaudet

Search for a Readybed - which normally retails at £40.00

Add the one for £10.99 to basket and enter code 0903 where it asks for an order code.

When you go through the payment process - before you actually confirm your order you should see that the total cost is £4.44 (99p for the bed and the rest p&p)

It is limited to only one per customer.

mammaduck · 16/02/2007 14:04

I am going to pretend I didn't see that, cornetjo.

Have just bought one from Argos for £29.99

Can't be arsed to take it back as have removed all protective packaging and done a test-inflate.

Am going to justify it to myself that he will love it because it's a Thomas the Tank Engine one (although deep down I know he wouldn't care if it was a verbaudet under the sea one).

Alson won't be admitting that we could have saved £25 to DH!

Am further justifying it because have realised the Thomas one I've bought is a 'My First Ready Bed' and therefore smaller, which as my LO is only 17 months.

mammaduck, hope ds likes his thomas bed!

mammaduck · 20/02/2007 14:41

Yes thanks nailpolish.

He fell asleep in the car and we laid him down asleep on his for his nap and he was fine.

He also loves playing on it (with Thomas toys, naturally) when awake.

But if you put him down for a nap on the bed when he's still awake it's a riot. He thinks: "Great! I can get up and run around and open my drawers and throw all my clothes out rather than having my boring nap."

So regretfully have abandoned the 'practise naps' on Thomas we had planned in anticipation of him sleeping on it all night at his godmother's this Saturday.

Just because I can't face folding all his clothing back into drawers again.

Will just have to wing it on Saturday and hope for the best

But yes, he does love it. So that's ok then.

how about the little life or nomad?

nikki81 · 19/03/2007 10:12

I have a samsonite bubble which seems really good but is about to go back as it is faulty. Cant decide now if maybe I should get the little life arc2. Just worried that a toddler may get out of these?

nappyaddict · 19/03/2007 10:34

do you mean climbing out of the top? the little life arc 3 is slightly higher up i think.

I meant rolling it over when they become mobile! The little life one looks like it wouldn't roll but the samsonite one I think she would probably knock it over! The problem with mine is the plastic rods you insert into the top are too long but I think I am going to saw them down and keep it!!
