Please can anyone help - I'm a total camping novice, and have ordered a camping chef stove from millets, as I'm wanting to go away this weekend. However I rang them to check what gas canister i need to work the stove (I should say for my dh to work the stove!) and they said either a 907,904 or 901 but they don't stock them. She said they only go up to a 500 - and she couldn't tell me who might sell them!!!!!!!! Help - I've got a stove coming that I can't use, any ideas welcome, thanks.

Oh, mrsjingles, is it one of those big double-burner stoves? If so you have to go to a Calorgas supplier (often a garage) and buy one of those big heavy metal bottles - you own the bottle and get it refilled by the supplier when it's empty. You have to buy a regulator thingy too.

Calor gas website - has list of stockists I think.

(I have no idea what those 900 numbers mean!)

Ooops, try this page - if you check the BBQ box and put your town in it should come up woth something.

Thanks, I've emailed the calor gas people to see if they can help me. I thought it would be an easy thing to get, but it seems not, and I've just heard it's meant to rain now this weekend, so my maiden voyage could be postponed anyway!!

Heres the deal with Camping Gaz... they operate on an exchange system, you turn up to a stockist with an empty 907 or 904 or 901 and they exchange it for between £8 and a tenner.
If you have no bottle a deposit of between £20 and £25 is needed, which you will or should get back at any dealer.
Most campsites operate this system, because they make loads from it but ring ahead to confirm.
Make sure your cooker comes with a regulator...

oh and dont bother with the 901, too small to be of any use. 70% of our camping gaz sales are 907s, 20% 904s...
