Narrow stairgates - do they exist?

I'm struggling to find a stairgate that will fit my stairs. The opening at top and bottom is 70cm, and the stairs cannot be drilled into, so I guess it would have to be the pressure ones. I've tried the usual places (John Lewis, Kiddisave, Mothercare), but the narrowest I've found is 70cm. At the moment we're resting a couple of gates we already had (for the dogs) against the stairs, but it is far from ideal. Little hands are very good at pulling them over.

We have roller blind ones, and they work fine in narrow spaces. But you do have to be able to affix things to both sides to put them up.

I'll check those out again but I don't think they'll work with our peculiar stairs.
Are roller blind ones easy to open when you're carrying a child?

I may have to get one of those playpens that opens out and place that across the bottom of the stairs. We have one wall we could drill into at the top.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone else?

the rollerblind ones are quite expensive but definitely the most flexible for awkward spaces

can you get someone to make them for you? I couldn't get any to fit so got a carpenter to make them for us and fix them. They are permanent then, but by the time ds3 doesn't need them we will take them down and redecorate anyway.

I have a Lindham that adapts to the width of your stairs. You do have to drill into the wall.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Psychobabble - that one looks like our best bet. How noisy is it? Enough to be annoying and/or wake sleeping children (or a sleeping me, for that matter ) - ds's room is next to the top of the stairs and the bottom of the stairs is in our sitting room.

Zubb - interesting idea. Do you mind me asking roughly how much it cost? We're going to have to get a carpenter to build some sides to the stairs as it is (freestanding wooden stairs with very open sides at the halfway turn point).

I've managed to find a non-noisy one that will fit from the safetots website.
Thanks for all your help everyone.
