I want to have dressing up box for DS ith a selection of bits and pieces that he can use rather than one fancy dress costume. he loves scarfs and hats and ballerina skirts but I can only seem to find individual outfits which would work out expensive to by individually. Any ideas?

Try going to charity shops - you can pick up lots of stuff cleaply there. Also if you can sew its relatively easy to make something basic.

Charity shops are a good idea, the sheep costume I made for the nativity was rather questionable though

DD and DS's dressing up box is made of all sorts-

bought outfits and wigs
some of my old clothes
simple sparkly skirts/tops made from remnants of material
old bags, scarves, hats from parents/friends/charity shops etc
bits and pieces like Red Noses, masks (home-made and bought) etc

Its amazing how creative they can be with bits and pieces

I bet ds doesn't mind though does he. My two love the stuff i have made for them and its seriously questionable DD bless her told her teacher last week that i am really good at sewing but sadly she is wrong.

Where did you find wigs betty?

The wigs were either very cheap from a party/joke shop or I think were free on the front of a Tweenies magazine or something.

They're only ones that are made up of strands of silver (disco stylee!) or sparse fake pink hair. Nothing expensive.

Scroll down for the tinselly strand ones for £1.99
