Bumper bars on strollers

Hi everyone - again

Just another question about Strollers. As you may have seen on earlier threads, Im trying to find a stroller with high handles. Well, Ive found one! ye ha. (Babydan Stockholm or the Copenhagen)

Of the two models available, one has a bumper bar, the other does not.

Please can you think for me!!!! What is the advantage of having a bumper bar on a stroller. I can only imagine my DD leaning forward and holding onto it - for the sake of holding onto something and maybe for a bit of support. Could possibly hang a toy from it, balloons etc. But is there anything else - more functional/practical you guys can think of?

My 3 wheeler I currently have (Urban detour) has a play tray which is invaluable for drinks, cheerios etc.

thanks for you help in advance

I always thought that it was to stop them lolling over the pushchair but I could be wrong.
I should think a tray would be much more useful.

I have the Stockholm & LOVE it!

Yes your right about the advantages of a bumper bar, leaning on, toys etc but on the other hand when your child is older they get in the way when you are taking them in and out. Also when they can climb in themselves you would have to keep opening it for them (if it has this option). I personally prefer without.

Ahh I forgot that the one I used to have was removable, that would cover all options!

If it's totally removeable then they are really useful, for the baby to cling onto when sitting upright to look quickly at a fire engine or whatever, to hang toys from etc. But if it is only removeable on one side ie like a gate to let older toddlers in and out easily, then think carefully about wanting to do this several times a day.
I had a Pliko for dd and appreciated the bumper bar. Likewise on the e3 I had for ds3.

Hi Pinkchampagne I think it was you who suggested the Stockholm! thanks chicken.

The dimensions to the Stockholm and Copenhagen are very similar, the C'h is a bit heavier and wider when folder.

Ive read your threads, and agree that if the bar is removeable this would solve all probs and be most practical. OK, onwards for more research.

thanks lovely ladies
