Ceramic Hob - to buy or not to buy?

Hi

I am getting a new kitchen (i have a very small galley kitchen).

Quite like the look of the ceramic hobs (with one or two halogen rings).

However a bit dubious about the control - are they any good to cook on? Does anyone have any experience?

I love mine with all my heart
Its the best cooker ever and an absolute dream to clean. Our has touch screen controls on the actual hob part so it looks really neat.
I would never go back to gas again.

The heat takes a bit to get used to but you get there in the end.

Thanks

Could I be cheeky and ask which model you got. I really like the look - and could do with the additional space. But I like cooking and have got this idea in my head that you can't control the temp very well.

Do you do much cooking and have you found this a problem.

I'd love to afford an induction hob - lol and the new pans!! But alas cannot stretch that far.

No, I hate mine. I hate cleaning it, I hate the noise it makes when water gets trapped under the pans. There is not a single thing I like about it.

Mine's a Gaggenau but only two rings as I have a gas wok ring. Give me gas any time. Unlike nbqetc I have never got used to the heat - and I cook a lot!

Aghhh

Have a horrible suspicion this might be a function vs form question.

Much prefer the look - but I am not sure how I'll get on with it.

Wish I could try it and see first!!

See if you can rent a cottage/apartment with one in?!

Mines a spanish brand called Fagor (pmsl ) and it was built in but never been used when we moved here.

I do cook alot and it hasnt caused me a problem. My dh wasnt too impressed as he thought they took a long time to heat up but its preety much instant heat.
I havent found the temp control a problem either tbh and I've always cooked on gas.

Which models were you looking at?

I have one and must say I prefer cooking with gas, just because its hard to control heat, its either too hot or not warm enough!!
