What skin care should I use? For my horrid spots

My skin is a mess I was reading another thread earlier about liz earl skincare and was wondering if I should give it a go. Basically I have combination skin got some scarring from spots which do cover up ok but make up looks uneven dry patches or like i have got to much on and oily patches. Still get some spots and have open pores. Would love for it to look like i havent got much makeup on. Make up wise I wear a bit of cover up and the body shops all in one base so dont pile it on. Help I am fed up of having crap skin I thought you were meant to grow out of crappy skin I am 27 not 15. I use to be on dianette which helped but trying for a baby so that out. Has any one got any miracle cures please would love to be able to wear no make up.

i use liz earle cleanse and polish to take make up off at night and it's fine, but would recommend a company called "mignon" for problem skin (mine's a real problem and have found that the pill yasmine has helped as and when you're ready for contraception again). I order the mignon stuff through their website. packaging is black and white. i also LOVE "the present - skin perfector" by philosphy - it kind of blurs imperfections but you use instead of moisturiser.

I had really really bad skin, acne, oily, dry you name it! I tried everything and found Boots Teatree & Witch Hazel range amazing! I use the foaming face wash, then the day cream or the night cream. Within 4 weeks every spot had gone & I'd even tried antibiotics from the dr!

I dont wear foundation anymore

Cedar your skin sounds like mine. i use teh oil of Olay blancing cleanser and toner, tehn the Liz Earle Skin repair light to moisturise. Skin Ok at the mo, but going back on Diannette as cannot cope without it.

My skin sounds a bit like yours, but my dry bits aren't really dry, just less greasy iyswim.

I asked for the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for Christmas and am quite pleased with it - it's certainly better than the 'clog dissolving' stuff from Bliss I got last year.

I wear very little makeup though except for nights out - just concealer on the odd red spot and the eyebags - as it tends to make my skin worse and I'm lazy enough to prefer slightly-imperfect skin to have to slather up every morning.

I use Johnsons teenage-type Clean & Clear spot-fighting oil-free moisturiser only when my skin feels dry - the Liz Earle stuff somehow leaves skin soft not stripped so its rare I need it.

My skin was wonderful when I was breast feeding dd did it for 7 months she 3.8 now and it been a mess since ive stopped. I have just order some liz earl stuff on line so hope it might work. Its more the scarring that a issue I could cope with the spots if I could get rid of the scar and the redness.

My skin sounds similar too. I'd tried loads of different brands etc etc and nothing seemed to work. I then got a copy of the Sarah Stacy book, I think it's called the Beauty Bible or something.

Anyway, the top performing cleanser in that was the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and the top moisturiser was Boots Time Delay. Thought I'd give them a go. Also saw the ads on TV for Freederm gel and it got a good write up in the press so thought I'd try that too. Bingo, great skin! Still can't quite believe it. I use the Freederm everyday even if I don't have spots and if I do get any they seem to disappear quickly. I feel panicky if I run out.

Just started using Liz Earle Daily Eye Repair and I swear my dark circles have improved.

Dermologica special clearing gel for spots, Ultra calming cleanser, active moist moisteriser. If you have problem skin you will be hooked on dermologica

Would def also recommend Liz Earle, mainly the cleanse and polish and the toner. I have poor skin, v sensitive and often get spots, and this range is gentle and doesn't aggravate my skin, plus its good in terms of animal testing (none) and environment. The roll on spot zapper is great too (my DH steals it!).

I have had terrible skin since DD now 5 was born. There is no product range I haven't tried and no limit on what I would spend on it, I was that unhappy. To my complete surprised the product that has made the most difference is Neurogena Deep Clean face wash. It doesn't dry out my skin but does deal with the greasy parts and open pores. I am finally happy to go out without foundation! (obviously not every day)

cedar12 · 10/02/2007 14:00

Thanks for all advise I feel a shopping trip is in order this afternoon, I think i will try some freederm and I ordered last night the liz earl cleanse and polish and toner and the light moisturiser. I have used neurogena face wash the one you can use as a mask as well but ended up only using mask felt a bit funny as a wash. It would be lovely if it works finger crossed.

Do you use the cleanse and polish with water or not.

I have skin very much like yours too and at the moment im very spotty. also on the top of my back too which i get every winter!

recently started using tea tree oil face wash and body wash which hasn't done much so far. also been given Fucidin cream from the doctor for my back which i use on my face too. It is quite good and does help

Think i might try the boots tea tree and witch hazel stuff Hillary recommended

I have just been perusing Liz Earle products online as was reading and posting on thread about them yesterday and came across this on their site, to tell you what you need for your type of skin.

I need a cheaper place to buy them tho!!!

juicychops · 10/02/2007 15:04

it looks like good stuff. Its well expensive even on ebay! a little out of my price range

ShinyHappyPeopleSharingKisses · 10/02/2007 15:37

Min too Juicy but it's nearly my birthday so I have compiled a list for DH and my mum (both of whom wanted to know what I wanted) and then they can pick and choose on Ebay.

juicychops · 10/02/2007 15:40

Thats good. Ive got a whole year to wait!

oh well, im planning on winning the lottery tonight so if i do get lucky il buy us all a load!!

Pannacotta · 10/02/2007 17:12

The Liz Earle range is pricey yes, but the Cleanse and polish lasts for ages and ages as you only need a very small amount. And yes you use it with water - "polish" refers to the muslin cloth you use to remove the cleanser. Is def worth the money IMO. You could always try the trial sizes if you are not sure, they are good for gym/travel as well.

I've started getting spotty again - probably an early menopausal symptom for me though - and I find taking a multi-vitamin every day helps tbh, plus a basic daily intake of fruit & veg.

I also use Clean and Clear, which might be a bit strong if your skin is sore.
