Excellent offer at lookfantastic.com - you get a £90 hairdryer (a £90 hairdryer???? mine was £4 from Tesco) thrown in.

Oh, it's infra-red. That's OK then.

You should get some, Trouty

mousiemousie · 07/02/2007 19:23

Do they trash the condition of your hair if you use them regularly?

ItsMeMellowma · 07/02/2007 19:24

Yes they do... I only use mine once or twice per week...

amazonianwoman · 07/02/2007 22:48

I've used my GHDs virtually every day for the last, err, 5yrs and my hair is in great condition. It's very strong hair and not long though.

I couldn't live without them, nothing else could tame my bouffy kinky hair (how attractive does that sound?!)

pinkchampagne · 08/02/2007 17:38

They are the BEST!!! I can't believe how much better they are than my old straghteners! Worth every penny!!

fluffybear · 08/02/2007 17:56

my hair is maaaad and I own GHDs... they are a god send!

CountessDracula · 08/02/2007 18:10

I am tempted to buy these as mine are quite old and I live in fear of them blowing up

Someone told me they are less effective after a couple of years and need to be replaced, has anyone found that?

amazonianwoman · 08/02/2007 21:02

Have to say that mine don't seem to work as well as the GHDs my hairdresser uses (even when I use all the right products, spend ages on hair etc) and they are 5-6yrs old. She reckons they don't heat up as well with age.

Would love to get some new ones but can't justify the cost until I go back to work!

Having said that, 5-6yr old GHDs are still better than brand new cheaper versions

petrified · 08/02/2007 21:11

I have got a set in the cupboard, I had them for 4months and then they stopped heating up. The salon I brought them from wouldn't send them back, so I still have them 3 years later. They are brilliant but I've never had the money to replace them

JanH · 09/02/2007 10:44

Original offer seems to have finished but they have this one instead - an ionic light (??????) hairdryer

They look fab, but still too expensive .

Get behind me Satan!

MrsSpoon · 11/02/2007 17:32

Essbee, this is what my hairdresser told me:- The new generation GHDs apparently detect the condition (measures the moisture?) of your hair and adjust the temperature accordingly, they also heat in seconds and switch themselves off after 15 mins if you leave them on accidently.

They also heat up unbelievably quick but perhaps the older ones did that too.

Wolfgirl · 12/02/2007 08:24

....anyone wanna sell theirs?

OK, if not, what kinda price am I looking at, and where can I get them discounted, and what is the name of the most recent model?

thanking ye all kindly.
