I would like some advice about which high chair to buy. The M&P evo is well recommended but pricey and so is the stokke. Have around £100 to spend bec a friend wants to buy us a gift. Something portable would be great too.

I'd challenge you on the easy cleaning of that one Nip - can you put it in the shower and hose it down like the Antilop?

AitchTwoOh · 07/02/2007 15:39

do you think this is going to kick off, mrsb?

MrsBadger · 07/02/2007 15:41

God, of all the things to get worked up about on MN and I'm taking sides in the Basic vs Luxe highchair debate

[beats self round head and goes off for consolatory Creme Egg]

We love our Tripp Trapp I know there are cheaper ones but I still love it.
It looks fab (dd has a purple one) it's solid and it's wood.
We take it to inlaws it comes apart easily with an allen key.
but agree with all sentiments that say the less parts there are to wipe/get weetbix stuck down/have to wash the better

littleducks · 07/02/2007 15:50

After having a thread like this of my own, i have argos booster with tray mentioned down below (well nows 2 actually!) and the tchibo trip-trap-a-like for when dd can eat off table tidily, she is nearly nine months and it wont be for a while yet.

so glad i didnt get padded plastic one with bells and whistles.

funkimummy · 07/02/2007 15:50

Got one of BSNursery on ebay. Comes in blue or pink. Is relatively portable. Has a removable tray for cleaning. Has 6 different seating heights and 4 reclining positions. Also has foot tray to catch any falling bits.

Has a removable soft squishy wipeable seat cover. 45 quid. Absolute bargain. Love it!

Mrs Badger - Ok so you have to squidge your fingers in the corners, dig out small pieces of soggy food from the edges... and not be able to hose it down as such (it'd probably rust!) But I like it...and would suggest its a good-un

Saying that if i had found MN prior to my many purchases i think they would be a lot different!

Wow! what alot to think about. Thanks very much. Why is it with baby products there is so much research involved!Just come back from buggy pushing group so the cream egg ref is very tempting!!! Maybe that might make this much clearer.

Another vote for the Ikea one. You can get a padded thing to go inside it too for when they're little. Everyone else I know has a really grimey dirty high chair but the Ikea one is so easy to keep clean it's not true andonly £15 or similar.

Hulababy · 07/02/2007 17:46

We have the Tripp Trapp. Got it when DD was 5 months old. She is now almost 5 and it is has almost daily use. very easy to keep clean and it looks good - important for us as living area all together so always on show so to speak. Definitely our best buy!

LunarSea · 07/02/2007 18:11

Keep an eye on the Tchibo website for Tripp-Trapp lookalikes for a lot less money. I think ours was only about £30, and ds at 5 still uses it.

Bagpuss30 · 07/02/2007 18:14

Yes, agree with Hulababy about the looking good thing. We have kitchen diner and living room all together and the highchair is always on display. Ours is a beech tripp trapp and matches in with our dining room furniture. We had a m&p prima pappa for ds1 and dd, followed by a Handysitt but I am pleased we splashed out on the TT for ds2 as it is really good. My mother had an antilop from Ikea for visits and we liked that a lot too though.

ds1 used to nap in his highchair all the time

weepootleflump · 07/02/2007 18:20

Another vote for Tripp Trapp, I just love mine - was definitely my best buy since having dd.

nappyaddict · 08/02/2007 02:03

i like the east coast or the babylo mandy. do like the trip trapp, kuster and svan aswell, but these are quite expensive.

LadyClaret · 09/02/2007 14:20

Just been on the tchibo site and searched for high chairs and came up with nothing. Thanks nappy addict- looked at the east coast chair and elooks quite good. Would then have change for CTF or Italy holiday at easter (what a decision!!!!)
