choosing a lightweight buggy

I'm really struggling to make a decision between lots of lightweight buggies. Having been on Which and lots of other sites, I've finally narrowed my search to perhaps the Silver Cross 'Pop' or the Cosatto Diablo. Has anyone tried either of these? and if so, which is better?

am guessing you've looked at the MN Reviews , which rates Maclarens (various) above anything else...

concernedonlooker · 05/02/2007 18:58

I can personally vouch for the jane energy and the mamas and papas pulse.
both VERY light, but still comfy for baby.
m&p has a much, much better raincover. jane has better lie-back mechanism.

concernedonlooker · 05/02/2007 18:59

oh, should say I like them both because I am quite tall. None of the maclarens are tall enough for me except the techno

NappiesGalore · 05/02/2007 19:09

hahaha

sorry, but you came on for clarification and all you get is further options to ponder...

the 'right' stroller does not exist. and thats a fact, fact fans.

the 'best youre gonna get for you' stroller is entirely subjective.

in terms of advice i can say that after extensive searching and excessive buying... now that mine are 1, 2 and 3, i could no longer give a flying f* what stroller i use, or not and will be donating all mine to charity shops in Hackney as soon as i can be arsed to get up there.

what im trying to say is; just get one. and live with it. theyre pretyy much of a muchness in reality.

imho, of course!

ooh get a micralite. i've had loads of buggies over the years and cant stop raving about this one!

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 05/02/2007 19:16

sorry didnt read down so far as your orig msg that says youve narrowed it dow. still, i'd still rc the micralite!!!!!

dueat44 · 05/02/2007 19:20

Can I join in? I know I should get the McLaren Triumph for all-round value, versatility and lightness, but my eye keeps wandering to the Quinny Zapp and the Microlite - though neither reclines, i think.

Views please ....

concernedonlooker · 05/02/2007 19:21

I could never have one that doesn't recline. DS is 2 and still sleeps in his buggy, it's lovely. lol

NappiesGalore · 05/02/2007 19:22

lol lol lol

i am soooooo glad i no longer care about buggies!!!

ScotGirl · 05/02/2007 19:29

My friend has the Pop - it steers to the left and isn't all that well made.

I have an Maclaren XT and I love it.

My ds is a napper and he is so comfy in it as it reclines flat. The extending front canopy is a brilliant bit of design - it blocks more of the sun and drizzle out

Can't recommend the XT highly enough! It is worth the extra money - shop around you should be able to get it for ~ £135.

Lostboobs - any more thoughts about the micralite? My finger is hovering over the Kiddicare 'buy' button ...

BabyTed · 05/02/2007 20:22

I have a micralite and love it. It doesn't recline but my 10 month old has no trouble sleeping in it. Its really light and easy to steer. Its especially useful if you have an older child or are shopping because you can easily steer it with one hand whilst holding the hand of the other child or grabbing stuff off shelves. It even comes with a handy rain cover that rolls up into a tiny bag. The only drawback I would say is that the shopping tray is quite small. Also, because it is so light if you have shopping on the handles it falls over when you take the child out.

Thanks!

So the sites that claim that the seat is dual position are wrong then? I had a feeling they were.

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 05/02/2007 22:00

babyted, couldnt agree more! with everything you said. nevertheless its still ace. also , i like the fact it has the pneumatic tyres at the back which means you can move it much more easily over rougher ground if you tilt it but its also got the small swivelly front ones for quick manouveres around town.
the sling seat is very comfy i think and dd never has trouble sleeping in it. shes now 2 and still fits in it fine. also so so so much easier to push with a heavyish toddler in it than a standard buggy which imo are a nightmare to push in comparison.

dueat44 · 06/02/2007 11:05

Thanks ladies! The 'buy' button has been duly pressed. Kiddicare include the carry cot for the same price as some other sites charge just for the buggy, so that will get us through the first six months with no recline.

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 06/02/2007 16:34

hope you like it!
