dd is still in one at nearly 5 and a half. She's average height for her age I'd say

LittleSarah · 05/02/2007 11:04

Til at least 5 I'd say. I slept in dd's once (not something I'd repeat)!

hana · 05/02/2007 11:04

her mattress is 130cm

drosophila · 05/02/2007 11:07

Do you think they are worth it. I think DD's room is on the small side so my thinking was toddler bed and them hopefully when she is a bit more sensible and les of a monkey one of those elevated beds giving her more space.

I do, but lots here don't.
just about to move dd2 into the very same bed (was given by friend) so they will match ( awwww) and when dd1 outgrows ( in a year or two?) dd3 will get her bed and she'll need new one.
if other children will use it I think yes is good buy

Hulababy · 05/02/2007 11:10

DD's friend is still in her toddler bed and she is 5y4m. Still fits in it fine and she is a tall girl. Toddler bed fits in her bedroom better as a samllish room.

drosophila · 05/02/2007 11:11

That's my concern there is very little chance of more following but then I can't get the elevated bed now so toddler beds are a bit cheaper than normal single bed so maybe.

You hear how I am trying to convince myself.

Well I got one because her room is fairly small. She can chose her own single bed when she is older.

lemonaid · 05/02/2007 11:25

They tend to say "to age 6", so my working assumption has been to age 5ish.

DS has one because (a) we got it cheaply on eBay and (b) that way we can fit his toddler bed plus a double futon in his room (if we had the futon down, admittedly you couldn't actually walk anywhere in the room, but technically it fits) which may prove useful at some point (c) I know that eventually DS would love, love love an elevated bed, and this way we can think about that when he's old enough rather than pursing my lips and saying "you've got a perfectly good single bed already, I don't know... kids today...".

paulaplumpbottom · 05/02/2007 11:29

For as long as they are a toddler.

itsmeNDP · 05/02/2007 11:30

'til they were 5, probably. This is one of the reasons we just went straight from cot to proper single bed at 2 years old.

Nemo2007 · 05/02/2007 11:32

The DDs both have cotbeds as they will be sharing a room. They are 150cms long which is great length. Ds is tall at 3.3yrs and would say he could get another 2/3yrs out of the cotbed. He isnt in cotbed as he has a small room we got him a mid sleeper.

Pixel · 06/02/2007 12:49

Ds is 7 in may and quite tall. He still fits in his bed just about! I can lie in it with him if we both curl up. I suppose we should have got him another bed by now but he sleeps very well in this one and his room is tiny so we've been putting it off.

katzg · 06/02/2007 12:55

my dd1 is still in hers at 4years and we will keep her in it until dd2 is big enough to go in a bottom bunk, then we'll change them both over at the same time.

brimfull · 06/02/2007 12:59

ds is still in his with plent y of room.he is 4.5 yrs.

drosophila · 07/02/2007 20:43
