How do you find it?

What age are your dc?

Do you use it every day or regularly?

Do you feel a bit ridiculous using it as a stroller?

this one?

Not myself but I see a lot of them out on the roads. Never ever seen anyone using one as a stroller though - tbh if you only have one child in it I bet there'd be enough room to sling a Maclaren in there too and whip it out when you arrive.

MerlinsBeard · 05/02/2007 10:39

do u mean this?

if so then i don'thave one - sorry!

ComeOVeneer · 05/02/2007 10:40

Not personally, but a father of a girl in dd's class has one and uses it daily to get his 2 dd's to school (5 and 3).

Tommy · 05/02/2007 10:43

was following a bike that had one of these on the other day.
looks a bit odd (and big - imagine trying to get that round some shops!)for a stroller but agree with Mrs Badger

KezzaG · 05/02/2007 10:43

I dont have one but met a woman at a playgroup who did, I see her pushing it around quite a lot. She swears by it as she has 2 dc's.

I see her pushing it around our town quite often so it doesnt look too strange now, and she doesnt have people laughing and pointing at her, honest

i would consider one as an alternative to a traditional double buggy.

strangefruit · 05/02/2007 10:45

I totally despair

ComeOVeneer · 05/02/2007 10:45

Oh I didn't realise youcould detach it from the bike and use it as a pushchair. Never seen it used that way.

strangefruit · 05/02/2007 10:46

mumofmonsters tell me where I went wrong and thank you!

OP posts:
strangefruit · 05/02/2007 10:48

sorry and thanks mrs badger didn't see your link

I have two dc, 5 and soon to be 3 and I don't drive having buggy problems and looking for an alternative

i think you forgot your \ after the web address and before you typed this (if that makes sense?)
I hadn't heard of them being used as strollers before

Oati · 05/02/2007 10:48

I know a couple of people that have them

and have seen loads in Center Parc

strangefruit · 05/02/2007 10:57

I think I am doomed to be unable to do links, i just cannot figure out where I go wrong

I do put in the \

I just drag the address over from another window that is open on my screen, then try and fit \link{ \this} around it, so there must be something wrong with my method?

I'm tempted to get one for DS3 and DS4 to go in when DS1 and DS2 ride there bikes but I always think thye look so low to the road and easily squashed ( but then I am the worlds biggest worryguts)

strangefruit · 05/02/2007 12:11

I read a review of one the other day maga

the guy reviewing it said at first he took it on a trial run in Edinburgh, very congested and scary place to ride imho. He said it was amazing what a wide berth cars gave him(he had no-one in it because he had similar concerns to you).

He started taking his two kids out in it, no problems.
He reckons drivers are so considerate when he had it on, that he was considering using it all the time, with or without kids.

OP posts:
strangefruit · 05/02/2007 12:12

mega that is

I have one like this! I used to cart DS2 aroat in it when he was too young to ride his own bike. I found it quite safe as there are so few around here everybody is very aware of you and gives you quite a wide berth (though one colleague who also has one 'caused' a rear shunt between two cars as the driver was too busy staring at them). I have also been let out of side roads etc whole riding.
I never used it as a buggy as he was beyond that age then anyway, and it would be rather big, but I have seen one being used as a buggy near my mum and dads. Now that DD is nearly old enough to go in it I think I would rather throw the ZAP in with her

JillybeansNW · 05/02/2007 12:33

while riding, not whole riding

strangefruit · 05/02/2007 12:59

JBW - I thought "whole riding" might be a cyclist terminology

Ours looks like that but hasn't got a hard base. We found it was quite useful to be able to use it as a pushchair. For example, we could cycle along to the kids' paddling pool and leave the bike chained up somewhere but take the trailer with us with all the stuff in. It's got quite a big storage area at the back, easily enough for swimming stuff, picnic, buckets and spades, and it is surprisingly easy to push. I was worried it would tip over as the front wheel is off to one side but it is sturdy and has never gone over even when we first put it up indoor and ds was clambering in and out.

Pixel · 05/02/2007 15:11

Sorry, didn't answer your other questions. No, never felt silly using it as a stroller but this is Brighton, anything goes!

Haven't used it since we moved to the top of this massive hill but used it a lot when we lived on the seafront.

Dcs were 4 and 8 when we got it and could both squeeze in but dd is very small for her age. And yes I know she should be able to ride her own bike but she is a feeble child! We really got it for ds who has SN so he could come out with us.

CountessDracula · 05/02/2007 15:16

Oh god
I see these in London a lot and I ALWAYS feel sick

I just imagine what a bus or a lorry would do to one

Oati · 05/02/2007 15:59

one of the benefits of living in Milton Keynes is the dedicated cycle/walk paths called Redways

I would hate to cycle on the road in London ( but have used teh towpath along the Thames at Richmond/Twickenham/Teddington)
