We have a franke rotundo circular stainless steel v good

Branster · 10/06/2004 10:39

our stainless steel sink is about 1 1/2 yrs old. of course it doesn't look exactly like when it was new but it looks v good. i clean it with a stainless steel cleaner which i buy from robert dyas. it's actaully a runny white cream, slightly abrasive but it doesn't seem to scratch the surface at all (use it on my hob and cooker hood too and had no probs with it). it's the best cleaning product for stainless steel i have come across and i wouldn't use anything else. just rub it over the surface with a damp cloth, rinse well and dry with a soft cloth (spontex do a blue cloth for this purpose you'd find it in tesco or sainsburys). don't know the exact name of this polishing cleaner but it comes in a small white plastic bottle with a black label on it.

btw, we bought our sink in MFI, it's round and it really lasts well

robinw you can get undermounted ceramic sinks that take up no more space than stainless steel ones /linkwww.insinks.co.uk/acatalog/In_sinks_Ceramic_Undermount_sinks_101.html\here{}

Everyone assures me that they stay clean so am getting one

robinw, we have 2 caramic sinks next to each other (they are similar to the ones in CD's link). No drainer but we have a basket in one of the sinks where we put the stuff to drain. Not ideal IMO (not my choice, inherited with the house), but I must admit the sinks still look pretty good 8 years after they were installed. I have seen ceramic ones with drainers as well, can't remember where though.

CountessDracula · 10/06/2004 14:01

No problem robinw try these or these

If you get a Villeroy and Boch sink, you can order a finish called Ceramic Plus which repels all limescale etc and apparantly doesn't stain.

yamamoto · 10/06/2004 15:49

You can get ceramics with drainers, had one in my last place, excellent but always looked a bit 'medical' I thought.

Any good importer/agent will be able to source one for you. I think ours was Italian.

Just have a butler now with a drainer machined into the Oak top, looks great. Dont forget the drip groove under the overhang.

We have a linen finish s/s sink, which doesn't show any scratches. Easy to clean too.

When is a scratch not a scratch? My ceramic sink has a small dark line on it where it was scrapped by a roasting tin. Any ideas how to get rid of it?
