I currently have a 5 year old Mothercare Urban Detour 3 wheeler which i keep in the house and use for the walk to school and for any walking I do from home.
I keep a Maclaren Techno XT in the boot of the car for trips to the shops, etc. It's nice and lightweight for getting in and out of the car but it's horrible to push, especially as DD is getting heavier.
DD is nearly 2 and we don't intend to have any more children so I can't warrant spending too much money.

I tried out a Jane buggy today that looked very similar to the Techno but apparently the wheels are bigger which will make it easier to push (they didn't look much bigger to me mind you) and also a lightweight Mamas and Papas 3 wheeler that was about £100 but that looked like it might not be too comfortable for DD (she is still having a daytime sleep about 4 days out of 5).

Any recommendations please?
TIA

Why do you find the techno hard to push? is it just the weight?

motherinferior · 29/01/2007 16:54

I'd say if DD is nearly two and has no mobility problems save your money and move her out of it pretty soon.

mckenzie · 29/01/2007 17:02

i dont so much find it hard TheBlonde just uncomfortable, heavy, awkward etc. And because the 3 wheeler is an absolute dream to push I guess i just keep comparing.
And I know you're right MI really but then next saturday when i use the Techno for an hours walk home from the gym (which i enjoy and DD sleeps while Dh and DS go and do football stuff) I shall hate it all again.

MI has a point - it won't be for much longer, you have the comfy Urban Detour for long walks.

depending on size of boot could you fold the Detour and take it shopping, or get a flat fold pushchair with a push bar (M&P Aria stylee) that might be easier to push?

whatever you get, buy it 2nd hand as it'll only last 2yrs max.

Maclaren volo is IMO the ligjhtest and easy to push buggy.

had them in asda for £25 the other day

they are a simple basic macalern but when they are older they dont need all the fancy features anyway

mckenzie · 29/01/2007 19:15

I'm not worried about any fancy features Nannyl, I just want it to be relatively comfortable for DD and nice for me (and her grandma and nan) to push for walks of an hour or more.

well if you dont want an expensicve 3 wheeler which IMO ar the easist to pish i hinestly think that the volo is the easiest around

NannyL · 29/01/2007 20:45

expensive and push

mckenzie · 30/01/2007 09:16

thanks again NannyL. I would 'like' an expensive 3 wheeler, it's just that i an't really warrant buying one! I'll check out the Volo this week.

Hi

I can recommend the Inglesina Zippy for comfort, ability to recline ( which the volo does not)and the wheels are bigger than the maclarens making it easy to push. I am selling mine so I'm being cheeky saying would you like pics? Don't worry if you're not interested - it just seemed to fit the bill...

aderyn · 30/01/2007 09:28

Why don't you use your 3 wheeler for longer walks?

We have a Maclaren Volvo which lives in the car and is used for short shopping trips, sitting DD2 in during DD1's swimming lesson, that kind of thing. If we are going on a scheduled walk we always use the 3 wheeler.

mckenzie · 30/01/2007 14:09

Good idea in theory aderyn but other than on a saturday when i can just transfer it to the car as i know I will be walking home, I can never be sure when i will need it and so it lives in the house for ease of use every morning and afternoon going to and from school.
How much are you asking for the Zippy Mumto3girls? Why are you getting rid of it?

Hi Mckenzie

The Zippy is lovely to push and is far nicer than a Volo if your DD still needs comfort and recline to sleep. But a Volo is great to use as a quick and easy nip around the shops kind of stroller..(I just sold one!)

I'm selling about 6 pushchairs at the moment, 3 down so far, I'm sad in a way to sell the Zippy but DD doesn't really sleep in it anymore and we need a stroller to take abroad on holiday so need to fund buying a Zapp for that trip. I'm looking for about £75 ono.
I have photos if you'd like to see them?

mckenzie · 30/01/2007 14:32

thanks mumto3girls. I know the one you mean so no worries abou the pictures for now, thank you. Where abouts are you please?
