I want to get dd a CD player for her 4th bay so we can listen to some story cd's together etc. (We have been given a lot). Any recommendations. I would prefer not batteries as think that will cost a fortune but would a plugged in one be safe?? I think yes but what don't I know??
TIA

I got one for dd (7) from Tesco, 13.00 and it's great, has a tape player as well and plugs in. Don't think you need to spend a lot. There was alos a pink one in Woolworths for 20.00 which was very sweet but none in stock when I wanted one.

no less safe than a light?

my daughter has one and loves it. No safety problems as yet...

Skyler · 24/01/2007 21:42

Oh great, sounds like it should be easy to find one then. I haven't even looked yet, apart from seeing the ELC one.

DD has has a plug in Sony CDplayer in her room since her first birthday. Been no problems at all. At 4 she now uses it on her own and plays music when her friends are round to dane to and occasionally listens to story tapes for quiet time.

Skyler · 24/01/2007 21:44

I think at 4 she knows not to touch plugs etc so I think a plug in one will be ok.

Watch out if you go for the ELC one - it doesn't come with a mains adapter and the ELC one was discontinued when I tried to get it.

DD got the player for last Christmas and I finally managed to find a mains adapater at a cost of £11.99 the other week - the one ELC used to do was only £5!

Thanks for the tip Alien.

DD got a pink one from Woolies @ £19.99 & it is going fine She loves it, it is really easy to work. She is 5 & I read to her most nights, but the nights she just wants to cosy down I out on a CD & she lays & listens to it herself. I don't have TV's in their rooms but she can listen to whatever she likes on her cd player

If you do have a TV in their room then why not just get a DVD player instead. Most of them will play CDs as well. My DD got a DVD player for christmas and was chuffed to bits when she found she could listen to music on it too. Now that DVD players are so cheap its a good way to do it - one less piece of kit needed.

DS got one for Christmas when he was nearly 4. It is a Phillips and dark blue, still going strong 2 years later. Only wish we had gone for one with lower volume levels....

PrincessPeaHead · 25/01/2007 09:57

I went into ELC last week for one. The one they have is £34.99 and the mains adaptor is £12.99!!!!
I told the guy that that was crazy, who would spend almost £50 on a CD player for a 3 year old, and he completely agreed with me.

for what it's worth

bundle · 25/01/2007 09:57

I got one for £11.97 in Asda

Skyler · 25/01/2007 11:06

Thanks all,
PPH - I have to agree what a crazy price .
I will have to go shopping and try them out I think. I have some good ideas now though thank you.
