ds2 12 months old - loves the bath but won't stop pulling the plug out - we've taken the chain off but he still can do it. does anyone know of anything that covers the bath plug? or another way to outfox him (he has lots of bath toys)
thanks

Will watch carefully as my 11 month-old does the same thing. Thinks he's really clever and then howls because all the water's gone... how long before they work out cause and effect?

if you stick the bath mat over the plug, can he still get to it? maybe if he can't see it, he won't make the effort.

both of mine are too scared of the water going out to even touch the plug...

jampot · 05/06/2004 11:45

What about going out and buying a plunger, removing the handle and just when you think you've got enough water to hold it popping it over the plug hole - it really is a bugger to shift!!

Had the same problem with my ds at 15mths. one night he had heaps of bubbles in bath was happy playing with toys trying to find them under the bubbles, then it happened he pulled the plug while sitting very close to it so you can picture what happen next but because of all the bubbles i had no idea what he was screaming about and pulled him straight out of the bath, once he was out i noticed the water draining lucky our plug hole drains very slowly without much presure but it still did damage. internal brusing he couldn't wee or stand without a nappy on for about 2 weeks (he was terrified of his own willy if i took the nappy of he looked down and screamed in fear) (as the hospital told me) they get a bit stif when weeing and because of the brusing it really hurt the nappy helped support his goods. he was also terrified of the bath which was really upseting as he loves bathtime. so a month of showers with a nappy on and persisting bathtime even letting him play in there with no water he finally got over his fear of the bath.(but never touches the plug) but iam still not over blaming myself thinking iam a bad mother even though i was sitting right there with him. and yes the Dr said that it will not ruin his chances to become a father one day. its just like getting kicked in the balls. so remenber that there fingers and toes are not the only thing that can get stuck!! hope this never happens to anyone.

foxinsocks - we haven't got a bathmat but i will take a two pronged approach and combine yours and jampots advice and buy bathmat and plunger as the backup and tania2 your poor ds and poor you it must of been horrendous - glad to hear he's ok
thanks again everyone for replying.
