Double buggies

Hi there

I am new to mumsnet and would like some advice. I am expecting my second child and there will be just over 2 years between them by the time the new arrival comes along. We are starting to look into double buggies and just wondered if any of you had any advice on whether to go for a twin or a tandem, and what makes and models you would recommend!

Any advice will be most gratefully received as I am doing my own head in with all the web sites I am looking at!

Regards
Aylie

Phil & Teds. Can't fault ours...totally brilliant especially if you use the bus. We got our from ebay so didn't have to sell a kidney to pay for it. I've heard several Mums at our Toddlers Group who bought something else and then regretted it and went out and bought a P&T's (much to their dh's horror at the expense)!!

I'm about to have my 4th baby. When the first two were little I had a McClarens twin, which was fine but it depends whether you are anticipating any tight spaces to squeeze through. This time I've ordered a Phil and Teds. I love the thought that it is basically the same size as a single. We live in Spain now, where there are some VERY narrow pavements (even for a single buggy) so can't really contemplate a side by side. Everyone here has tandems but I don't like the thought of back ache every time you have to get them up the kerb. HTH.

Hi Aylie,

I had 19m between ds1&2 (now 6 & 5 yo) and 16m between ds3&dd (19 & 3 mo). I bought a Mountain Buggy double when ds2 was about 4 months old. It is a fab buggy and luckily I kept it and am still impressed with it (my only complaint is that it does take up quite a lot of space in the boot and doesn't fit in my Touran when all 6 of us are in the car). I bought a carrycot to fit from mumsnet for dd as out and about from day 1 with her. Although now almost 5 years old it still looks great and attracts admiring comments when we're out.

I've got a Jane Twin Two to sell (see "for sale" and "swap shop" - I'm a bit cr@p at links) which is gorgeous but just not suitable for what I bought it for - Grab yourself a bargain? x
