Help Crisis with new washing machine: what should I do?

Well after a week of mounding up laundry piles I have taken delivery of my new machine.

Had to dsmantle the kitchen to take old machine out so total chaos. Have unwrapped it and horror horror horror it is only cold feed. Now when I ordered from local shop I actually went back in to check it was hot and cold feed.

So in floods of tears I phoned the shop to complain. They said most machines are cold only now as you only use hot in a boil wash. To be honest Ido everythng at 40degrees anyway.

However still gutted. We have a rayburn so loads of hotwater so it seems more sensible. But if I send it back I have to a) wait for them to collect it. b) wait for them to order another - next week sometime!

At the moment I have no kitchen and won't have until a washing machine is put back as the machine has a board on top to make the woodsurface so everything is on the table now. Utter chaos.

Part of me feels I should stand my ground. Its cost me £500 so it should be right. Part of me thinks its not the shops fault as they did look it up and the prblem is with hoover so why penalise the shop. And oart of me just wants to get my kitchen back in order and put the washing on. DH was stranded in London last night. I've not seen him all week and I don't want him coming home to a mess.

DH suggested that if its a good grade then its not so bad - it seems to be A+AA.

What would you do?

I would just fit it...
my washing machine is cold only feed... and it still washes quite quickly (just over an hour for a normal 40c cotton wash)

thats just me though!

We've only ever had cold feed ! Even though our machine (16 years old and counting) has both inlets we hook it up to cold only with a y-shaped pipe. It just heats it up to the appropriate temperature rather than taking the hot in from your tank and diluting it with cold. Our bills have been ok but can understand your frustration if it isn't as you'd specified.

Mine is cold fill only and washes really fast. Old one was hot and cold and the hot hose used to perish after a while, and leak (and my washer is upstairs, it brought the kitchen ceiling down once ) - I am very happy with cold!

I can understand why your so fed up, especially as you asked for hot feed... do they still do Hot feed? I wouldn't be supprised if they changed it as it wasn't economical.. you could alway check with curry's or comets website and compare machines...

The chap in the shop said they had changed the design and that most machines are cold only now.

Couldn't face the hassle of sending it back and didn't seem fair on the shop. Also couldn't bear for poor DH to come home to the mess so in the end I fitted it ( why does every single nut and bolt to be removed have to be a different size!). Anyway got there in the end and am now on my 3rd load of washing. It is amazingly quiet - the water filling it up is louder than the spin - and it can do a quick wash in 30mins!

So have cheered up and now am feeling really positive about it.

Thank-you for the sympathy though. Was what I needed really
